Can't flash X3CE in v1.6b. Pls hlp

I've read dozens of posts and I still can't flash the BIOS. I've NEVER had this problem before, but, this is the first v1.6b Xbox I've done.

I installed X3CE in friends v1.6b Xbox using pin header and LPC rebuild. All solder points good. Put the X3CE out of my Xbox in friends and it works fine. After first install all I got was a blank screen. After numerous checks, I took it all out, ordered a new LPC rebuild and redid the whole thing. Still wouldn't work.

Both times the X3 logo on the switch said the chip was on. All lights on chip were right color. Then I read post from yesterday about this same problem. Tried chip in my box, worked fine. Tried flashing chip in my box but that didn't work. Read more posts and found to set switches to bank 5678 for Flashbios 3.0.3. Put chip back in friends box. Set switches to 5678. It boots up to flashbios screen. I have tried and tried to flash the bios by HTTP with 3294 BIOS on banks 1234. Get the message "UNKNOWN FLASH! HALTING" Tried flashing Yoshihiro M8-1.6B on 256Mb bank. Got same message "UNKNOWN...." Tried flashing with M8v1.6_plus by disc that I used to flas mine. Same message.

I am afraid to flash the BIOS on bank 5678 because I'm afraid that if I screw up, it won't work at all.

I've been working on this for 2 weeks and I'm at my wits end. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Do I just need to bite the bullet and flash on banks 5678?

do a hot swap with the chip flashbios 3.0.1 will not work with v1.6b but works with v1.6
try this frist
if you have flashbios 3.0.3 on banks 5678 try a harddive flash when you do it put the flashbios 3.0.3 as well as x3 3294 v16 plus to a folder called "bios"
do the chip flash frist then once you get bios up and runing use the bios config dash to flash your backup to the one that works by harddrive this is why put flashbios in xbox harddrive

I FINALLY GOT IT!!!!!! YEAH!!!!


Like a dumbass I had the switch on the chip on "flash protect." I had looked at EVERYTHING a thousand times and I kept thinking "green" was "flash". I feel so stupid but you know what? I don't care. I got the chip flashed and I'm so happy! My friends daughter can have her Xbox and I don't have to eat the cost of the mess.

Maybe this will help others. I had read and read the forums, posts, tutorials ect... and still missed this. RED = FLASH!
