Can't flash

Ok so i have installed my xecuter 3 into my 1.6B xbox, everything lights up nicely. I set switch 1 and 2 to on, and it gives me the screen where do you want ot flash from....

but i can't change the option! i have tried the controller in all ports and no joy
the controller works if i disable the chip and go to the normal sbox screen.

any ideas?

There are loads of posts already on this, if you took the time to search!

Either the official MS Controller will work, or the DVD Movie Playback Kit.

Thanks, but can you give me a hint! i am using the official xbox controller and have tried the media remote but still no joy

It appears that i actually have a 1.6 not a 1.6B. any ideas how to get this working?
I have the media center extender remote, not the DVD movie playback one.

Hi Dave,
My controller won't cut the mustard as well (and yes, it's a very default controller S from noone less than M$). I finally gave up and bought a M$ DVD remote, it worked nice & easy from the first time. XBMC let me use the controller as well. But for Flash BIOS I had to use the DVD remote, otherwise, no joy. My chip is pretty much TFU at the moment (it won't flash anything past 512 KB) but as far as the controller is concerned, the DVD thingie worked just fine. Borrow one of those from a friend, or try a different controller. My friend has another Xecuter xbox 1.6 (exactly like mine) and his controller worked on my box, I guess it's some minor firmware difference on the various controllers and the likes.
