Hello all,
As I am about to demonstrate I am very new to all this. I have just installed a 1 x Xecuter 2.6 CE & Xapter Solderless and am having a nightmare getting evox dashboard on to it. I have it imaged to a dvd but can't boot to it, I know this dosk works on another xbox. I can also not ftp to it despite following the various guides about. I can ping the xbox ok and access via http for the bios flash screen. Can anyone advise what else to try.

Thanks in advance.

Also forgot to mention that when I select Bank2 on the swith it does boot to a screen giving me the options of flashing the bios from network etc but if I boot from bank 1 it just power cycles 3 times and then hangs.

you must flash a bios first as mentioned above
X2 5035 is the latest bios

then you must correctly burn a bootdisc onto a cd or dvd of whichever dash you wish to use

this a tutorial on how to install evox dash by xecuter
http://teamxecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23863

tutorials on how to flash and burn a disc correctly can be found on the front page of this website

Thanks to both of you for replying so quickly. I have burned SLayer to a disc and try to boot to it but have no luck, I am not even sure it is trying to boot to the disk. I have flashed the bios to Evoloution X M8 v1.6. The screen has these options, flash from network, disk, and hard drive, also lock and unlock Hard disk.

Acctually thinking about it and I am the master of asking stupid questions, I am not sure I have this right but is slayer and Evox acctually a bios and does it have to be installed via a disc or can it be installed by ftp or http to the xbox. Thanks again

make sure you've flashed the appropriate bios version to your box
the X2 5035 is a better bios then the evox m8

although i've never actually used slayers, it is just a bootdisc to help install apps, emulators, prepare a new hdd and various other things that i don't know
slayers is not a bios

check this out to see how to correctly flash a bios to your chip

Hello, I really apreciate this help you are giving me. I have taken a picture of what options I have on my xbox screen though I can't seem to see a way of adding it to this post, maybe I could email it to you if you don't mind. If I explain what setup i have here maybe you can work out where I am going wrong. AT the top of my screen I have FLASH BIOS 3.0.3

Underneath I have
Enable Network Flashing
Load Bios from Hard Drive (C:zBios)
Load Bios from Disc
Unlock HDD
Lock HDD

I have a switch that has three switches on it

Chip enabled (curently set to enabled)
FLash protect (currently set to enabled)
Banks 1 and 2 (currently set to 2 as if I try booting to bank 1 it recycles the power and then hangs at a Black screen)

The only way I can seem to flash my bios is through http , i.e. by going to my xbox IP which is 192.168.0.102 then browsing to the bin file and selecting upload, this seams to work as it then powers the xbox off I then manualy switch the xbox on not chnaging any of the switch settings and it just goes back to the same screen no matter what bin file I load.
I am able to succesfully ping my xbox out of interest.
Are you saying if I upload your recomended bios when I reboot I should have more options on my screen such as maybe being able to get it to boot from cd.

Thanks again for any advice.

You are getting there. First set the Flash protect switch to Disabled. then boot the box from bank 2. Once it has booted change the bank to 1 then do your http flash as before. All you have to do then is set the flash switch back to enabled once you have your new bios is flashed.

hi Guys,

Me again, just one question I have modded two more xbox's since doing mine and one thing I have noticed different for some reason is that when you disable the chip on their box's it doesn't boot to the original bios as mine does. I would say I don't think I have done anything different on theirs than I did on mine but I guess I must have but for the life of me I can't see what. Not sure if it is relevant but my box is a 1.4 version and the other 2 where 1.0 and 1.1 . Thanks again for any help.

do you get any error numbers when you disable the chip and boot up?
if so, what numbers?
do the newly modded boxes have new hdds in them?

i'm assuming the new hdds have not been rebuilt with m$ files on the C drive, that is why you're getting the frag
you download slayers and burn it to a dvd/cd and rebuild the c drive with that
i'm not sure why the screen is blue and there's no error numbers in one of the top corners of the screen.

5 - kernel - HDD not locked (The retail xbox bioses require the hd to be locked)

you can use slayers to lock the drive

my 2 cents

you should unlock each of your stock drives in their respective boxes, otherwise they're useless...

I'll see your two cents, and raise you a nickel.

I like to unlock, then *lock* my HDDs with ConfigMagic. This sets the master unlock password as TEAMASSEMBLY, so should I need to unlock my HDD I can do it via PC without the full unlock string. Even do this with the stock HDD before removing.
