Guys,
Hi , relative noob here. Ive been used to just a 360 with a fashed drive for the last 2 years but have just splashed out on a 360 slim with dual nand (coolrunner and cygnos 2.0 rev.e) I had no idea at just how involved it all is and ive been reading nothing but forums for the last 3 days. The trouble is im stuck at stage one, i cant get the 360 to recognise my 500gb external usb maxtor hdd. Ive formatted the drive using both fat32format and easeus partition master and both show the drive in fat32 and set as active/primary. I boot the console in RGH but it doesnt see the drive.
Any suggestions appreciated
Cheers guys

You most likely just need to put FreeStyle Dash on the external drive and then configure launch.ini (DashLaunch) to look at your external drive for FSD each time the console boots.

Do you know whether or not DashLaunch is installed?

Thanks Blakey,
Yes, i was given a load of files and folders with the console. The folder was labelled jtag and had sub folders for games , applications, freestyle dash etc. I was told to put a config file at the root of the drive specifically for an external usb drive as i was advised to keep all RGH on the external drive. I was told to rename the file launch.ini (at the root) the path the config file was directed down was straight to an xex file in the freestyle folder. Despite this it still would not see it.

The launch.ini file should be placed on the root of your external HDD.

Your FSD folder can go anywhere on the HDD, just be sure that the relevant path is set in launch.ini in this format (example): Usb:\pathtofsdhere\default.xex

Idiot !!! Ive just noticed that the pathway config is wrong in that the freestyle folder is specified as 'freestyle 2' instead of just 'freestyle'. Sorry Blakey , my eyesight isnt what it used to be. Off to edit the path line.

After 4 days of trying to figure out why it wasnt booting into FSD i burnt a viper360 bootdisk and discovered that whilst browsing my usb drive there was a file called launch.ini.ini !!!!! Yes, like the pillock i am i took it to be literally to name the file launch.ini not even contemplating that the file was already a .ini . No wonder there is a noob section.:rolleyes2:
