Can't get ftp to run with EVO-X

I managed to get Xecuter 2.6CE up and running. I burned EVO-X to bank 1 as per various howtos. I can reboot the XBox and up comes the xbox with the Microsoft welcome screen and the EVO-X icon but that's it. I can't ftp to the box (???). The box can go out and get an IP address (I give it 192.168.24.133 via dhcp, I see it in the logs on my Linux box). What am I doing wrong? Am I even posting in the right place? If not sorry, just point me in the correct direction. BTW are there instructions on how to use the Xecuter after I've burned a BIOS to it? Are there instructions for EVO-X (site's a link locker now)? Thanks -- Neil Cherry

Thanks! I'll lookup how to make a boot DVD. Right now I'm arguing with Nero, it burned a CD that can't be read (argh!). Thanks now I have a path to take. :)

I think the Xbox Linux website has a grid of what media is compatible with what drives, maybe Llama's site too. Google on how to identify your DVD drive (if you don't know already) and compatible media. Find what is recommended and try it. Depending on the drive I've used pretty much everything, but what reads on one drive may not read on another.

Thanks folks!

Things may not have went as well as I had hoped. I just found out that I can't load the original game (argh). The box boots but load a game from the original media and it just hangs. I put XBMC on a DVD and it does the same thing (maybe a good sign ;-). I'm getting the programmer and I'll download the flash image to the Xecuter via that method. It's actually cheaper than send the Xecuter back. Besides once I get this Xbox working I've got another one to do (it's my wife's). :) My stuff is always the guinea pig.

As an aside, I just found out the AID iso is 7.4G. I need to burn that to a double layer DVD. I'll investigate the howto's later my head is spinning. ;-)

DJBOOBY, thanks. I just doubled checked the rar file. It's 1.0G but it expands to 7.4G but inside it is an iso that 400+M (the AID iso, much better!). I thought I had to burn the whole thing to a double DVD. You just saved me a lot of trouble. :)

If you can't even load an original game you should probably start checking out your DVD drive, maybe swap it with the other Xbox to confirm if the problem travels with the drive or stays with the box. Open it back up and make sure the IDE cable is fully seated on the DVD drive, if you haven't done so already.
