I am using an lpt cable that I hand built with the 5 resistors and 3 diodes. When I load up IMPACT it will recognize my chip (jasper 16mb) and then I select timing file and program. If I'm in NOR mode it will suceed, if I am PROG mode it will fail. Either way, when I hook up power and try to get xell, the CR will not flash green. I have checked and double checked solder. Anyone else use a home built lpt? Also, when it fails in PROG mode, the green light will come on and be steady. It will only disspear if I reprogram it in NOR mode.

You can just leave the coolrunner in norm mode. When you have executed the program command in impact, and it shows a blue success message, you can run a verify command to check it is all good. If the verify works, then the cr is programmed correctly. It won't flash green if wires are not in the right spot.

Dont be tight, ditch the LTP programmer and buy a NandX (makes life MUCh easier and quicker)

It sounds like it programmed just fine. The CR is probably not flashing due to either soldering or wire routing. Try moving wires away from board and then booting. Leave in nor mode.

I have a Nandx. Problem is I didn't realize they also sold the cable to program coolrunner so I just got nandx and coolrunner.

What do you mean move wires away from board then try booting?

I'm fairly certain that my wires are soldered correctly. I'm looking at it and I can't argue with what I see.

Can you define what you mean by "installed?" Either you mean just the 3.3v and gnd (like I have now) or you mean with all the wires there (clk, bypass, etc...)

Basically what happens now is in Prog mode, the light is there, but it is dimmer than in Nor mode. It can detect the coolrunner successfully in both Nor and Prog, but will only program in Nor mode. I did verify and verify is successful. Should I not worry about this and have a quadruple look at my soldering points?

I've been trying to make this thing work and after soldering and resoldering points, I finally made a mistake it seems. Looks like the pad got lifted on the cpu reset. Is there another access point? Does lifting the pad mean that the circuit is now damaged?

I meant the bypass one, not the cpu. I ended up soldering the top of that resistor right underneath the pad. Again, the coolrunner has been programmed and all my connections appear good. Are you sure programming it in NOR mode is ok? Why would it fail in PROG mode but work in NOR? I definitely have 3.3 V on the section where nandx solder points are and Gnd is on too but can't get the damn light to flash. I did a zephyr earlier and it was flashing on the first try. Any mind you I have 2 coolrunners on 2 different jaspers that will not flash green.

By removing the pad did I do irreversible damage to the circuit or is it just an inconvenience to me?

I can't find where that alternative point is for the bypass. It's too zoomed in for me to recognize it. It almost looks like cpu/gpu on top.

no offence but if you have already stuffed one point why risk screwing alt points send it to to a pro also did you use flux when soldering
