cant get X3 to enable

I have two 1.0 version xboxs, both have X3 chips. First xbox works perfect, second xbox I cant get the chip to enable. DO point looks good as well as the header pin. Only thing different is second Xbox has a wire extension of a slightly bigger gauge wire on the DO connection. (Soldering iron came in contact with the orginal gray wire and I had to add length to it.) Could this be the problem. I thought about taking the working chip out of first Xbox to make sure the other chip is not defective. Is this ok to do . I dont want to mess up the working xbox though.

you made a mistake somewhere in soldering, but i doubt the larger guage actually made a difference.
