TX Product(s) used: 4GB QSB
Console Type: Corona v2
NAND size: 4GB
Dashboard version: 2.9.16203.0
CB version: N/A
Screenshot of NAND details from J-Runner: N/A
(attach an image to your post)
J-Runner log: N/A
updflash.bin log (if applicable): N/A

Description of problem:
Im trying to read my nand but no devices are shown in J-runner

Was the console working before you started: Y/N Yes

Do you get a green debug light appear on the RGH chip every 4-5 seconds: Y/N N/A

How long is the light on for each time: N/A

Extra Info:

Liteon 1175
J-Runner 0.3 Beta

Its probable that its my solder job that causes it not to be recognized as a drive but I want to rule out anything else.

What state does the xbox have to be in to read the nand?
I know it has to be plugged in but I havent attached the front panel power button riser (whatever its called). Does that matter? Does it need anything other than power, like cables/drives?

To read the nand I just hit read nand and select the mobo version, then select the drive (when it finally shows) then read. Right?

Thanks

-Added Photos. Thats about as clear as my camera will do.

Filled out the form which was basically the same info I already provided. I'm not asking questions about my soldering Job. I'm asking general RGH questions.

If you want help, you need to be more specific and fill out the complete template, which INCLUDES pictures i'm afraid.

You are not being very clear on what you have done so far or using, you realize that reading the nand of a corona v2 is different than a v1 or trinity for example?

If members have to guess what you have done so far and have no visual on the board, soldering, hardware etc, then you are going to have a hard time finding the help you need. Many times it is something very simple that you don't find important or see, which may lead to succesion once pointed to it.

you cant read a corona V2/V4/V6´s nand from the coolrunner QSB, you need the 4gb R/W kit for that.

Yes, I know that. What more info do you need?

If you aren't using the product like it was designed to be used (soldered to the board), how can you expect us to help you?

I will be surprised if the console still boots because that U1D1 header looks a mess.

I suggest you remove those wires, clean up those points and solder the QSB directly to the board.

I only want the QSB on there long enough to get the Nand dump. How do you remove a QSB that that is soldered on if you can only heat one point at a time?

It is not like they are even expensive. No reason to be that cheap you may need to read/write again later. Install it properly.

You clearly dont have enought solder skills to do the install you want and you should realy make the install as its intended to. If you had more skills this thread wouldnt exist ;)

If you don't use the product as intended, you will get little to no support.

Add that to the fact you can't solder, there's nothing we can do for you.

Remove EVERYTHING and clean up the header. Post a new pic once done.

I redid the soldering but J-runner still doesnt see a drive/device after I select board. Obviously the ribbon was connected when I tried to read it.

I really didnt want it to be about the soldering because I can redo that until I get it right. What I might NOT know is if there could be other factors like using the microSD nand reader adapter with just a MicroSD/USB adapter instead of the supplied SD adapter and a USB SD reader(I dont have one).

Also the Jrunner steps, to read the nand, in the tutorial I watched are a little different.

Also if not connecting the front panel power button board would make a difference.

-I checked the jrunner log but it doesnt give any useful info like whether its connected to the QSB but not the nand.

Sorry to break it to you, but most of the solder points still looks like they are bridged. It's just messy, I can't put it in another words im afraid.

Ya they do, got use flux. Get it clean. Have to fix the connections before one can speculate of problems with the reader.

looks like you bridged the qsb points ! Use FLUX or send it to someone who know what he do

I am using flux. Is there a type of flux that works better than others for this small work?

If you continue using an iron on that console you will likely render it useless, you should practice your soldering first. I made some googling for you by the way:

Here they explain how to use the flood method for soldering (this is not the case for the 4GB RW Kit) and how to remove excess solder.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yyUlABj29o
BTW this youtube video is not mine.

Maybe you can find some "Chem-Wik" on a local store, maybe they can sell it to you by foot or meter.
Use a 40W or less iron.
Use the thinnest rosin core wire solder you can buy, the thinnest the wire the more control you can have on the ammount of solder you apply.

Practice first, because clearly you need to practice or you will end with a brick or a more expensive solution.
