Capacitor and hard drive issue

Hi, I recently was able to glitch my Coolrunner and get my hacked dash working perfectly. However, the boot times were not very good so I added the capacitor (I have a 512 Jasper) and the console booted very quickly.

The only problem is that ever since I added the capacitor, the console will only boot without the hard drive attached. If I put the hard drive in and then start it up, it gets stuck at the Xbox logo screen (end of the animation). I can successfully boot to Xell with or without the hard drive in.

Like I said, before the capacitor, everything was fine except for boot times. Any theories as to what the problem could be? I was thinking a short but im not sure quite yet.

Thank you community!

EDIT: I checked and now any usb device or the hdd connected while the console is booting causes the freeze. Any device attached after also causes it to freeze. This INCLUDES the wireless network adapter. I highly doubt that all of these controllers are shorted so im going to suggest that the reason for this is because of the capacitor. I will remove it and report results tomorrow.

Sounds like a hard drive issue and not a issue with the console. I had a similar issue with a jtag.

I jtaged it for a friend. He bought a 500g drive the replace the internal one. I tried to use my usb drive to transfer files back and forth. Some times it would work but most of the time it would hang at the loading screen. It got to the point to where I would let it boot and then plug it it, wait a couple of minutes and then it was detected by the system. I can't say for sure you are having the same problem but if you have another drive you can try then it might be worth while to try it.

No luck. All usb devices including the network adapter cause the system to freeze also. The above solution didnt work. Im going to try to remove the capacitor as I highly doubt that I shorted out 3 different controllers. Will post results.

Removed the capacitor and everything works again. The network adapter, hard drive, as well as usb drives. Thanks for your suggestions everyone!
