change hard drive

can i put a hard drive from a ver 1.6 in a ver 1? i tried and i get error code 6,can not unlock hard drive. i am going to put my xecuter 2.6 in and use the flash bios menu to unlock. hope it works.

The HDD needs to be unlocked. Unlock the HDD with the V1.6, install in the V1.0. Then relock.

can i unlock without a chip in xbox. thats the whole prob. i cant get the chip to work in the 1.6 and have a bad hd in the ver 1. 1.6 works fine without chip but is there a way to unlock the hd in it without flash bios?

If you used config magic to lock the HDD you could but without that machine running a hacked bios you're not going to get it unlocked.

at 1 point when i was trying to get the chip to work in the 1.6 i got it to boot to the flashbios screen and unlocked/locked the chip a few times when i was screwing around trying to get it to work. does this give me any hope?
