With every new Call of Duty game comes the semi-regular argument about the practice of Quickscoping. It seems Infinity Ward have made a few changes to how sniping will work in the upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts which may see the practice gone for good. Executive Producer on the game Mark Rubin made the statement in a TwitLonger post as spotted by Polygon yesterday. In the post, Rubin mentions that with the new Marksman class in the game, Infinity Ward were able to focus the Sniper class on "really powerful high-calibur weapon systems" and that changes to the weapons, along with considerations made during map design to things like lines of sight and cover means long range classes will be as effective as the short range ones on the exact same maps.
However, in the process of overhauling sniper rifles Rubin states that "some aspects, such as sway timing, have changed the way sniper rifles function" including, it seems, Quickscoping: taking advantage of the small window of time when raising your weapon to get super-accurate shots: "Is it gone completely? Maybe. It certainly won't be viable in the way it previously was."
Are you for or against Quickscoping, and are you glad or sad to see it go? Feel free to have your say below. In the meantime here's Ed's most recent impressions of Call of Duty Ghosts.
