Hi Everyone,

Can someone please give me some guidance. I have read through this forum and Textbook's tutorial.

I have obtain the key from my Hitachi drive, but I don't really know what to do next with the Samsung drive.

All I know is I'm suppose to hack the firmware key from the Hitachi drive and put it into the Samsung drive then Spoof the drive.

I need some kind of tutorial of what software and steps I need to take.

Can I just use the steps that is inside Textbook's tutorial book? Just use the steps for Samsung M28 drive.

thanks for your time.

If you have the orig.bin from the Hitachi you can just use the new Samtool .7i and it will patch your key and spoof to the correct version for you in one easy step.

If you don't have the orig.bin, just the key, there is a tutorial on doing it that way here:

Thanks for the info. I have an additional question that I don't think is in any of the tutorial.

I have the hacked firmware created and spoofed. What I need to know is do I need to retrieve the orig. firmware for the Samsung? In case the flash didn't go as expected.

Part of me think that it's not necessary since the mobo is linked to a Hitachi drive and I'm using a hacked Hitachi firmware for the samsung anyway. Any reason to save the orig. samsung firmware?

Thanks in advance

Exactly, the key that's currently on the Samsung is useless to you because you don't have that motherboard anyway.

This part kinda scared me...you're not attempting to flash Hitachi firmware onto the Samsung are you? You can only put Samsung firmware on a Samsung and Hitachi firmware on a Hitachi. In this case you'll spoof the Samsung firmware so it appears to the 360 to be a Hitachi but you never cross-flash firmware meant for the other type.

thanks bigd23, but I want to confirm with you if I did my spoof correctly.

I have the original.bin file from my Hitachi drive.
1. Open my original.bin firmware file to retrieve my key.
2. After retrieving my key I copy that.
3. Open ixtreme samsung firmware and paste my key.
4. Replace Key
5. Spoof firmware and choose my original Hitachi drive.

Am I safe to flash this firmware to my samsung?

Lastly, if I want to update my firmware in the future. Can I follow the same steps that I did above and flash into samsung over the existing hacked firmware?

I read tutorial on updating firmware but nothing about updating firmware with a spoof drive.

Lastly, I read on a few tutorials that you should leave the video plug unplug while flashing to avoid E64 and have 5 mins. to flash your drive. I have read more about connecting the video plug before flashing. Any inputs?

Please advise. Thanks.

Hi:

I did exactly as mentioned in last post. I'm going from a dead Hitachi 059DJ to a HONG KONG Samsung MS25. I copied the original.bin key to a text file, opened toobox and selected new fw 53a-ms25. I then entered what I think is my original key and clicked on replace. I then went to tools and selected spoof clicking on my original Hitachi 059. Now I have the firmware with the key and desperately need help figuring out how to get it to the new Samsung.

I have the USB contraption from xecuter for the hitachi.
I have the VIA CHIP SERIAL ATA card as well for (Samsung-Toshiba)
I just need a clear understanding on how to get this fw to my new drive. I feel as though I'm about 75% of the way there.

Thank you in advance for any information on this.....

hi,

there are actually a lot of tutorial on how to flash your samsung drive. you can follow textbook's manual.

You have to make a USB boot first using iPrep or the other two. when in dos, mtkflash w /m /sata replaced.bin (replaced.bin being your hacked firmware). Do the 10 sec. power down rule (not needed for ms25).

This is the short version and obviously I read this from numerous tutorials, there are other ways that people are using.

I'm still confused... even more so since reading the "real textbook" I have 4 files in a folder from my old Hitachi backup folder. The files are called: 59_23.bin, key.bin, now.bin, was.bin. I used the toolbox, selected a new fw called 53a-ms25.bin (IXTREME I Think, for my new Samsung). I then copied my key from a text file that I had gotten from the was.bin and clicked on replace. Correct so far? then I clicked on tools and clicked on spoof firmware.... I selected my dead drive, the original Hitachi 059DJ.

So now after reading through the real textbook, I see so many choices but not sure the correct way to flash.

If I'm using the correct SATA card and I could see in Windows, couln't I just type in a comman like mkflash drive letter /? /? 53a-ms25.bin to complete the job? It seems like everything I read relates to having to get information from old drive etc. where as I don't need to do any of that...1) the drive is dead 2) I have the Original.bin.

Can someone please set me straight? I'm having serious withdrawls.
Sorry for being redundant, I just don't want to brick this drive. I just think I should be able to quickly get into a DOS promt, type a command and start playing games.....

Thank you All.........

reinnie Thank you....

I was able to successfully flash my drive within minutes. The issue now is that backups seem to freeze the machine. So far it looks as though originals are playing fine. Anyone have any ideas? Is it maybe that I should have used the IXTREME 53 faster fw instead of the quiet? Any FW sugestions? I use ONLY Verbatum DL DVD's for backups. They all worked fine with my original modded Hitcachi. The Samsung just doesn't seem to like them.

Thank you.

I believe you are having the same problem as I'm having and it's not the firmware issue. These drives coming from HK aren't that good, most likely old drives taken from broken Xbox 360. I bought my MS28 from ebay too.

My current problem is some of my backups work only at random times. After doing more research it seems like we either replace the laser with Hitachi laser or do the POT tweak.

I'm going to do the POT tweak tonight and see how it goes. I'm not even going to bother contacting the seller b/c I know they're just going to be rude. In HK, Taiwan, China customers aren't number one, they can careless if your satisfy or not. (I know b/c I was born there, go back and visit on a yearly basis, but customer service remains the same)
Did you buy from gameconsolehk?

On xbox-scene I read someone having the same problem and bought from gameconsolehk. They return the drive but gameconsolehk said they never receive the drive from him.

I'm going to do the POT tweak first and if that goes well leave it. Eventually when it burns out I will then replace it with my Hitachi 79 drive's laser. Good luck.

steinyy that is Xtreme 5.3 that you used, not iXtreme. You want iXtreme 1.2 if you're looking for the newest fw which is currently safe on Live.
