Chip detected as 0x0900 [enabled]

Well my programmer seems to be working to some extent but it only detects the 2.6CE as 0x0900 enabled and 0xDDDD Disabled.

I have the older green programmer, all LEDs are working on the chip, and it is Enabled/Flash Prot Off and Bank 2 [tried it on bank 1 also]

Is my chip screwed up or would sending it to somebody that can make a programmer work be a good idea?

I have posted in every thread that I see like this.. Hoping for help, as it seems to be a common issue. They are gonna tell you to check to make sure the flash protect is off, and to make sure the settings on the LPT port are correct, so go ahead and check those things.

I myself have tried several programmers with no luck, I keep hoping that I can find instructions that my simple mind can follow. I know that there is a way to flash the bios from a CD once the chip is in the box, so if anyone would be kind enough to show me how, I and all of the others that are having this same problem, would be most thankful.

At first I thought my chip was bad too, but the more I read here, the more I see the exact same issue.

Here's hoping..

Yes.. for me anyway.. the problem is that step 9 never happens. I am truly not trying to be a jerk, just getting frustrated because I really want this to work. I have seen this all over the boards, and after everyone tries all of these things, it still doesn't work and the thread ends. I thought it was a bad chip till I saw all the people having the same issue.

Unless it is a batch of bad chips then that is not the problem.

Honestly I don't know what the problem is, but I still have to ask, can it be flashed from a disc? I know that if the chip is bad that the answer is no. But what if it is a bad bios? For that matter could it be a bad switch?

Oh and when I said that I have tried multiple programmers, that is from different PC's, and a friend of mine has one that he has no trouble flashing his with, but when we connect mine, it never detects it.

Tonight after work, I am gonna go ahead and solder the box and install it anyway just to see if it will boot. I haven't done that yet, I figured it wouldn't do me any good if I can't flash the bios. Since themodchip.com won't respond to my request for a new chip and programmer, I might as well try it.

An update, I soldered the box and installed the chip. I got a pretty blue light and then the box booted straight to the Xbox screen. So I finally convinced my friend to let me borrow his chip, low and behold I had wired the box correctly and it booted with his bios. I popped my chip in his and it booted right to the Xbox screen.

Bad Chip? Probably, but since themodchip.com will not respond, I am done.

Thanks for all the advice in all of the threads.

Before you give up, did you check the switches to make sure they aren't the problem?

Tried that this morning.. I replaced my switch with my friend's and still nothing.. put my switch on his and it appears ok.

There is another post now concerning this exact issue, the guy has modded 30 some odd boxes and all of a sudden now has 3 chips with this same problem.. really sounds like a bad batch of chips.
