Im hoping someone can answer my question.. (and hopefully its not a complete noob thing to ask)

I recently bought an 2nd hand xbox off ebay, and it was installed with the x3 chip.

I read through the tutorials, (Which are superb btw guys) and found that a long depress of the pow button should disable the switch allowing me to go on XBL.

when I do so, it loads but I get no display, just a blank screen.

Everything works fine when the chip is on but I would really like to get on XBL.

Dont know whether this will help or not, or whether it is actually the cause  but the chip is flash protected on the inside. (I plan to unlock it in the near future to upgrade the Bios as it is currently 3.0.0 Build 1959) just dont want to jump in to that just yet if it is a simple fix for my problem.

Does anyone else have any suggestions. I would like to get on xbox live, but unfortunately it still wont load in disabled mode.

btw, if there is already a post regarding an issue like this could someone point me to it. I did have a look, but could'nt find anything.

When you press the power button for a longer time, do you get the green "flubber" animation on your screen or just black? If the latter, I bet the D0 line in your Xbox is busted -- someone f**ked up the chip installation.

I dont think its youe d0 point, if it was touching somehting else, it would short out making your chip enabled everytime

Shibz, you're a star m8...

That seems to be exactly the problem Im having, and the fact I recently checked and my xbox is a 1.0 does tie with your post.

Re-flashing

Hey, a LONG time ago (when i first bought my xbox) i reflashed my DVD firmware with some Xtreme firmware. I dont remember what one as it was super long ago but its posssible i might be able to figure it out though my friend that helped me. I don't beleive I have the original firmware backed up anywhere (new computer etc etc) this firmware is an old old one before the new dashboard came out and brought down the banhammer. I was playing all my old games fine, then my live membership expired and i sort of switched to PC gaming for a while (untill now). What I need to know is this: can I just go and flash following the jungleflasher tut and pretending I have the stock FW?? if not, what do I do?

in summary: I have old Xtreme, I didnt get banned because I have never updated my dashboard and now I cannot play new games (otherwise, banhammer). Now I want to, but I dont know how to update my FW.

P.s. I have a Benq drive.

any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Re-flashing

ok just to clarify, it doesnt matter that I have non-stock DVD firmware? I can just use JungleFlasher v0.1.74 and all will be well?

Re: Re-flashing

except if i were you i would, i would upgrade to jungleflasher 1.78 beta (183) that way everything runs smooth and everything autoloads for you
