Chip worked five minutes ago...

Okay, I have a 1.6 XBox that I have now owned for less than a week. I installed the X3 and turned it on, and it was like the chip was not there. I resoldered some things, and tried it again, and everything worked fine. All three boots worked. I went back into the XBox to put the screws back into the motherboard, and to get one in I had to take the chip off of the pin header. After all the screws were in, the chip no longer worked.

I looked at all the solder points, and they are fine. I used a multimeter to check the top of the motherboard where the D0 is to the chip's board, and the path was fine. I am getting the blue LED on the chip, but the chip is not activating no matter what kind of press I do on the power/eject button(s).

I have no idea what is wrong.

Thanks

I am getting the 5v LED, but not the other. I noticed the LED is on only when the chip is on the pin header or I am holding the power button. I assume that is normal. I don't understand how the chip would be working fine and then not. Maybe the chip is not on the pin header good enough on those two pins in the back.

Should I try putting more solder on those two pins?

i had problems with pin 15 before on the first 1.6 that i did solder looked great but was only making contact when it felt like it, would boot like it didnt have a chip. i have seen a bunch of people on here that have had solder joints fail after running for months.

no sh*t huh? maybe chip's ok then and all i need to do is resolder the 3.3v points on the pinheader. i measured pin 9 and pin 15 (with the chip on the pinheader) and both showed .2 volts. with the chip off the pinheader it's 0, so i assume it isn't powered up with the chip off( i think, not too sure about that part ). so maybe it's a weak solder?? and not having any/enough power doesn't power the chip uo correctly right? hence no LED on the external switch or LAN and HDD leds??? right???

Thanks for telling me about the two LEDs. I resoldered all of the pins and I am sitting here right now watching my XBox backing up a game onto my 120G hard drive.
