Chip works, but no dash...

I installed a 2.6CE into my sister's boyfriends xbox (v1.5) and everything was working fine up until about a week ago. He called me and said it wouldn't load up the Evox dash. I got the xbox from him and found that if I put a burnt game in and booted up, it would play the game, but without the game it just boots to the MS dash. Any ideas how to get the dash booting again? I've already reflashed the chip and it didn't do anything different.

Nevermind, figured it out...


I think he must have gone xbox live with the chip enabled, because when I booted up with it disabled, got a "HD not locked" error code and I told him to lock the drive before going on live, then disable chip. Does M$ overwrite the .xbe file if it's not the retail dash? Oh well, it's his account, not mine...

if he went on live with the mod don he will be banned.but if he got the error 5 then i might not got as far as logging on to live, so he might be ok.the mod needs be be disabled BEFORE he goes on live
