what is a sata chipset used for?do you have to connect it on the motherboard near stuffs like sound card or graphic card?

Im surprised no one has answered this question yet...

You need a certain chipset to flash most of the drives especially the samsungs, i believe its the VIA 6421 chipset, and yes, you can buy a seperate expansion card that plugs into the PCI slot of your motherboard to use it. it connects your xbox drive to your computer thru a sata cable.
