Hi all, my cousin is bringing home his stock Hitachi GDR-3120L (wasn't sure if this is non-79 or 79) for me to mod this weekend. I have the CK3 Probe pictured in the attachment and I'd like to know if this is enough to extract the key.

I have a Lite-On DG-16D2S that I will be updating to LT1.9 -> LT2.0 tonight and I was wondering if I would be able to use this probe to test out the key extraction since my box will already be open.

You do not need the Probe for Hitachi drives, click here and follow the links relevant to your drive. By the way, LT 2.0 hasn't been released for the Hitachi drives yet, it should be released soon though.

You can use on-board SATA and a CK3.... you DO NOT need the Probe, just the CK3 and a SATA port will be suffice.
Thanks for the help. I'm sure I'll have some other questions along the way, so I will post back here when I try it this weekend.

Last question for now, are the Hitachis the drives that are supposedly invincible to online bans? If I remember correctly, many people were on 1.51 and still playing online? My memory may be fuzzy.

They aren't "invincible" as you put it, no flashed drive is "invincible".... the firmware is as safe as c4eva and the team make it meaning it isn't guaranteed to be 100% safe but it has been thoroughly tested.

Right, I understand that. I guess what I meant was when the 13146 update rolled out, there were drives that were unaffected by this and could still play the newer games without flashing to a newer LT. Just wondering if those were the Hitachi drives or if my mind has completely made this up.

Hi all, attempting this right now with CK3 and SATA connection. I've clicked Send Mode-B and it shows that Drive, answers normal Windows Inquiry with a string of numbers along with HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR3120L 0059. Correctly shows Mode-B Done, but after that it goes through all of my drives and says:

Mode-B Done!
Found drive C: - Hard Drive.
Found drive D: - Hard Drive.
Found drive E: - CD/DVD.
Found drive F: - CD/DVD.
Found drive G: - Removable.
Found drive H: - Removable.
Found drive I: - Removable.
Found drive J: - Removable.
Found drive K: - Hard Drive.
Found drive L: - Hard Drive.
Found drive N: - Hard Drive.
Found drive P: - Hard Drive.
No Hitachi drives were found!

It never assigns the Hitachi drive to a drive letter. Not sure what to do from this point. Help please!
