Clock Resetting after a Reboot

I have searched and found out that I am not the only problem with this problem. I have installed a X3 in the 1.6b xbox. I had flashed the chip with the new X3 bios, but it seems that after a reboot using the dash or even by game eject, the box turns off for a sec then on. Clock/date setting seem lost and I cannot load backup off HDD(due to this issue I belive)
I checked over the connections and I have a clean install on all points. Is this a dash issue or truelly an install issue. Plese Advise , thnx in advance.

I've got the same problem plus anytime I have 720p enabled the screen goes scrambled and then no signal.

If I disable 720p everything works fine but won't go above the 480p mode. (no 1080i even though its set to yes)

Anyone got suggestions?

x2.6 chip M8+1.6 bios is what I'm using on my 1.6b

For the system that is reseting the clock. I would check your connections and make sure that its a clean soldering job. Also I would make sure your using electrical tape to cover the soldering points so they are not touching the metal and shorting on the bottom of the case. I am not 100% sure but my bro had this problem and when he cleaned up some of his soldering and put tape on there it resolved the issue for him.

I could see that fixin it on some systems but it seems everyone who has a 1.6b is seeing this. Everyone I've talked to at least. And it would do it when you use the power button or the eject button. Mine only looses the date and time when it's already running and you hit the eject button to switch games. If I hit the power button to turn it off and then turn it back on and eject it works fine.

hi ppl
how i got round this was to flash both banks with an edited version of the m8+16 bios , edit the original m8+16 bios using the evtool then resave the bios and flash both banks with this if you have a programmer or make this into a 1mb bios to cover both banks , this stopped the eject / reset problem on 1 of my 1.6b xbox's
before i did this i was using flash bios 3.03 on bank 1 and m8+16 on bank 2 this was giving me the eject / reset problems
give this a try it may work for you ?

the m8+16 bios used on both banks will stop the x2.6lites from resetting the clock but speed11 is using the x3 chip and that uses its own bios, plus the problem with the banks should only be when u reboot the xbox or press eject when playing a game(evox reboot) so i think if the clock is resetting on a x3 chip when u press the power u might find its soldering a problem. just my thoughts anyway m8 :)

what bios r u sing on your x3 chip if u r using the m8+16 bios that could be your problem, x3 uses it own bios..the m8plus bios r for the lesser chips x2.6lites etc.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone found a good configuration/setup for xbox 1.6b chipped with the X3. So that the xbox wont loose the clock settings once the eject button is pressed. (THe xbox restarts but it also powers down for a second and then starts up again. Games fail to load from hdd because of this I belive)

hi sorry speed11 i did not see you were using an x3 , but has anyone tried flashing all the banks on an x3 with x3_1959 or m8+16 ( i dont know if this bios can be used with an x3 ) , i know this is risky but it seems to fix the reset problem on x2.6 if you flash both banks so i wondered if you flashed all the banks on an x3 with the same bios would this solve the problem ( this is only a thought ) and i know it is risky but it may be worth ago

good luck !!!!

Has anyone had any issues with the x2.6 with the M8+16 and 720p? Anytime I have 720p enabled it scrambles video loading a game and then goes to no signal.

I've actually got a v1.6b right out of the box, (planning on modding) and the clock / cal resets itself anytime it's powered of....

Not sure if this helps anyone, but just incase...

Does 720p work for you when the chip is disabled?

Mine doesn't work regardless of if the mod is on or not, so after trying with 3 Xboxes I decided it was just the TV not liking the Xbox's 720p output. 480p and 1080i work fine. Strangely the TV also tunes 720p flawlessly off of the antenna or from the satellite, just not from the Xbox.

Check if it actually has anything to do with the chip.

Good point...I haven't tried it, but I also don't have any 720p games that aren't "backups".

The problem I'm having in detail is anytime 720p is enabled on the x-box the games won't startup, even if they don't support 720p. With the chip turned off I can have 480p, 720p, and 1080i enabled without a problem.

As a matter of fact I don't get anything above 480p even on a couple of games that are supposed to be 1080i. Do I have to have an HD box and run through that in order for things to come through higher than 480p? (my tv is HD ready, requires HD box I guess and that's where my problem is)

Just pulled out the manual for my TV and found it doesn't support 720p for some reason. Only 480i, 480p, 1080i....oh well.

read errors on backups

ok so i upgraded my firmware on my benq to ixtreme lt v1.2 without problem and then tried to load 2 backup games, sometimes the game will get through the video and even get to the create profile screen and then i get the dreaded read error. original games work fine, i have cleaned the lens, and adjusted down the pot from 3.4 to 3.2 still with no luck.
I just want to make sure if i can sometimes make it this far into a game, that means my firmware update is good, i am not using verbatim media, i am going to go get some and try that next, and i am going to try burning with a different dvd writer.

Re: read errors on backups

your flash is good if your dvd drive detects the games

i would definitely start using verbatim discs
