Hi .

Does anyone know what might cause this ?

If I start the 360 on a cold boot 95% of the time it boots instantly.

If I turn it off after it's warmed up then try to turn it on again it just sits at the solid green power light on the front.

When it's like this if I keep turning off and on eventually it does boot (when it does boot it's instant).

Most confusing. Thank-you for reading.

It may have something to do with your cpu or simply your wire routes. When your turn on the console, then off, your capacitors and "stuff like that" are charged. If a wire goes near by it may interfere.
I would try to re-route the wires, away from the 2 coils on the back of the mobo is your first priority

I should add that before I flashed the .ecc and modded nand .. when I booted into retail dash with Coolrunner on Nor I would get 0022 red lights every time (Coolrunner set to Prog it booted into retail dash Fine).

Could this indicate my CPU_RST wire not set right ? I have a multimeter to test it, I'm not sure how to set it up to do it though. And the join on that one on the mobo DOES look a little dull ..

As for the wire placement, I will post a picture of them and my soldering asap (got to strip my box down again hehe). I'm as far away from the coils as I can be.

Thank-you TX.

Getting 0022 on a retail NAND and set to NOR is a sign of a bad connection somewhere. This is probably why you're needing to wait until the CPU is warmer before it glitches.

Someone who knows there stuff :)

It boots great from a cold boot.

It's when it's warmed up is the problem , just a few minutes on , if I turn it off then try to turn it back on it generally won't have it. Could be up to 20 tries. Could be 3. I really shouldn't be moaning about this but I'm a perfectionist (sort of lol).

I wonder if my CPU_RST solder point is at fault (looks a bit dull on the mobo), what do I set the multimeter to, to test continuity ? It hasn't got the continuity beep or lights , thanks mate.

At work, at play...
Yeah it can be a bummer sometimes to have to take it apart again.... but after a while you get to where you can have one completely striped in a couple of minutes.

I just rearranged the wires to death its still being random.

I checked all the points with a multimeter set to 20k ohms , all resistance is 0.

I dont understand how the wiring is wrong , when the multimeter gives 0 resistance on every single point.

What should the resistance between the blue caps legs be ? And what setting on the multimeter to test it please anyone.?

Is there an alt point for the yellow wire .. FT6U7 ?. I have Googled it.

at this point I'm sure wire placement has nothing to do with it, it's being random no matter where I put them.

I have another rgh (same model/memory) we just put the wires round the coils bit of leccy tape nothing special that one works a charm

Mate, basic electrical Physics...

Anyway...

Your soldering looks like try Joints... Not good... And your Blue and green are too close...

Also post some pics of the hanna chip solder points. They are usually what cause the not workings... Perhaps try to use the alternative hanna point if you havent damaged the original...

---------- Post added at 01:38 ---------- Previous post was at 01:32 ----------

Also Try to be a little more generous with heat and flux, its what gives good joints... Also :

How to check for continuity without light or beep:

1. set the multimeter to 200 ohms or less (lowest setting)
2. Put the black probe on a point
3. put the red probe on a point
4. if give a out of range (-1 or just blank screen) then no connection
5. if it give out a low resistance such as 1 or .5 etc... Then connection.

A Dry joint will have higher resistance than a good joint....
