Hi I have read through as much of the forums as I can but cant find solution. Trying to flash back to stock and then update dash, then flash to latest

I managed to download dummy.bin from a previously flashed 74850C by using the disk half open method.
I clicked Erase Lite-On but I missed turning the power off and on.

Now whenever I turn the xbox back on to try again and fix the computer freezes. Its plugged into sata port running windows xp. I have tried different ports and just tried a different computer with windows 7, still freezing.

No I havent got one. The thing is that it has always worked for me without freezing and just plugging in to sata port. Now since I messed up powercycling during erase it freezes as soon as you turn on xbox.

Because the Lite-on Erase failed, the green light is flashing on xbox once you turn on. I just plugged in other xbox and it doesnt freeze computer.

On XP computer it locks up and hard reset is required.

With Windows 7 it locks up for 2 minutes, the problem then one you try to the erase and power cycle drive it locks up again

with a usbpro you will be able to recover it in windows and its a tool worth having if you can get one, but without you will need to look at using a dos boot disc and the command line tools such as loeras.exe to manually force it. Good old command promp days :) i miss those kinda.
and no a windows cmd shell wont do it, needs to be booted to propper dos mode with a bood disc or cd.

windows is just trying to figure out what is plugged into the sata port and gets no/wrong response from drive which is why its locking up.

Damn thanks for your response. So will a VIA sata card work or I need to get the USBpro?
Otherwise do you have a link for a guide for the dos command prompt solution?

the dos loeras method will deffinately work with onboard via sata chipsets and via cards as i have had and used both in the past, i dont know about other chipsets though so no need for the usbpro.

google loeras liteon or liteon bad erase recovery and you get loads of good tutorials on how to do it.

Important thing to note,

disconnect all dvd and hard drives leaving just the liteon plugged into your pc before booting and running loeras, this will prevent any possibility of bricking any of your pc drives.

Thanks for your help Woody21,

Is that except for primary hard drive with O/S or you dont need that cause dos boot disk?

as you will be booting from a boot disc unplug all your hard drives to keep them and your data safe.
if you can boot from usb then you can unplug your cd/dvd drive/s too.

to make a bootable usb drive get the hp usb tool which can make a dos boot usb drive for you. then you just add your firmware, loeras & dosflash files.

since its badflashed (as in not ejecting) simply:

ensure its on your mobo's lowest sata port #
leave the drive powered off while you boot your pc
ensure the proper i/o port is selected in jf
the drive should still be powered off so click INTRO (in JF)
When you see the first dot (.) - power on the drive!

pending your chipset this should work
you may have to powercycle a couple times while the dots continue or retry the entire process

hint: if dots persist press esc on your kb (that will abort the command)

Onboard Sata Setup:
1. Ensure: ahci or raid is disabled in bios/native ide - ok)
2. Primary sata1 or 0 (lowest#): Onboard (each sata port is labled on the mobo)
3. VIA only - unticked < in JF
4. Scroll thru your i/o ports and note the port that the drive is on
OS won't boot? BSOD? - RAID/AHCI disabled bootfix -> http://bit.ly/JYTqQR

Spudnutz! You are a legend I think you got me going.
The dash on there was 2.0.89955.0, I flashed Pre 13141 to make sure the Firmware Osig match.
On the Post 13141 last 4 numbers were different. Have I put the right one on?

I upgraded to latest dash 16203. Now when I try to see drive in JF I get blue screen of death... (Tried 5 times so far)

Tried a different computer with XP, used Spudnutz solution above to get it reading drive, with drive half open. Put on LTPlus-0251-v3.0.bin

All works now,

By the way box in banned to XBL im sure the way I did this would not avoid banning.

Thanks to all that helped
