I just want to ask for confirmation on this...

is there no possible way at all to play xgd3 games on a samsung drive that is on an xbox other than its original xbox?

ok, thing is, i tried flashing a liteon, messed up on the part to power it on and off and it smoked and fried it, luckily i got the key, strangely my pc recognizes the drive and i can reflash it and everything successfully, but when i go back to my xbox, the xbox doesn't even recognize a drive plugged in

so i have this other xbox that has rrod, the rrod comes and goes but it's still annoying. it has a samsung drive so i flashed it with lt+2.0 and spoofed it to a liteon and am using it on the xbox which i fried its original liteon. i also tried manually spoofing it, by using sammy's lt+2.0 with the liteon's key without actually spoofing it as a liteon, that's how it currently is.

it reads all games fine except xgd3. i try to boot it up and it says unreadable disc. i can even successfully install an xgd3 game 100%, but when i try to boot it, EVEN THOUGH i installed it to hdd, it still says unreadable disc wtf?

now...i tried flashing the samsung with lt+2.0 but with its original xbox's key, and i temporarily fixed its rrod long enough to test it, and weirdly, it actually booted up burned gears of war 3 just fine.

now its rrod is back and well i can't permanently fix that so whatever, and i have no drive on my other xbox cause i fried its liteon, so my only choice is to use my samsung on that xbox.

but like i said, you read all the problems above...my question is

is there any way to play xgd3 games on a samsung drive that is on another console other than its original console it belongs in?

don't tell me to buy another lite on as i'm aware of that option but can't afford one at the moment. just please answer the question, tell me your experiences with this, or if it's a for sure NO let me know.

this might help you
Can I spoof my AP25 drive to a Samsung or early Hitachi? Could this trick the console into disabling AP25 checks because these drives don't have AP25?
No. AP25 checks the OSIG (original drive signature: make+version+fw) stored in your motherboard which cannot be changed (unless you have a JTAG/RGH console). If the drive specifed here is one that supports AP25, the console will initiate the AP25 challenges, regardless of whether the actual physical installed drive supports AP25 or not.

So if the OSIG stored is a Liteon, BenQ or late Hitachi, and your actual drive is a Samsung or early Hitachi (spoofed or not), the AP25 challenges are initiated. The drive cannot respond to these challenges because it is not AP25-aware. So the check fails, the disc doesn't boot, and you may get flagged for a future XBL ban.

so not just XGD3 games, any ap 2.5/6 games as well...did you try any of the ap2.5 activated games like black ops
hope this helps

oh wow, you are completely right. my black ops is scratched to the point where it doesn't read at all, i have halo reach and i read it's ap2.5, so i tried that...and yeah same problem as xgd3 games. damn, okay i understand now

thanks alot for the info. i guess i need a liteon, no way around it, or a jtag, which won't happen, haha.
