I have V1.0 xbox and a X3 chip with bios version 1957 on it. Now I see a FlashBios v3.03 out.

Should I be updating the FlashBios if I don't have a 1.6 or 1.6b box? If so how? is it the same process as flashing with the 1957 bios? Do I have to change the dip switches?

Sorry for the questions, I just don't want to mess anything up...

Thanks for your patience.. :)

OK. I just got my Crystal Box, and my X3 2 days ago.
Pretty much what i did was flick the top 2 switches to the right
I tried to flash the bios with a CD-RW, but wouldn't work for me, so i tried the HTTP method and finished it up in about 10 min.

If you have any more questions, consult the official 1.6 guide and the noob guide on the home page here

Just to clarify I had no problem flashing the chip with the 1957 bios... Used CDRW and worked perfectly.

I was just confused with the FlashBIOS 3.03. Not sure if this was an updated bios to the 1957 or a different bios all together...

you don't need to flash the flashbios 3.03. it's just for ppl with the 1.6b boxes.

Open Tray - Burning Problem?

My xbox 360 is giving me an open tray problem but it only happens on back-ups. All the games I've burnt, I use CloneCD, 2.4x and Verbatim DL. They all worked on my previous Xbox, but now on this Xbox it doesn't. I have 2 games that were not burnt by me, and they work flawlessly. I'm assuming it's a burning method that for some reason isn't working on my new xbox. Is there another method that I should use? I also tried using imgburn instead of CloneCD and ran into the same issue. My burner is an HP DVD writer 840b

Re: Open Tray - Burning Problem?

it's probably the laser getting weak and having issues with burned media
or it could be dirty focus lens.....

take the drive apart and clean the lens with q-tip and alcohol.
