ok so i just jtagged my system every things seems fine 3 nand dumps all identiacal used cool shrimps to install freeboot, installed a game with iso2god and played with no disk. then i went to add a bigger hdd (1 tb 3.5 seagate ) i used the normal cable from a stock 360 hdd to plug it in so i could format the drive. the xbox did not see it. put the drive in my desktop and it found it right away (so it's not the drive). tried another cable from 360 hdd i used for everything else still not found. thought maybe it was the dash or free boot so i reflashed orig nand, wrote new nand with freeboot dash .9199 still not detected. rewrote the nand again using xbreboot dash .8955, and also tried drawing power from fan instead of hdd port. looking for any ideas why the xbox does not see the hdd.

xbox info xenon mobo, nandx quick install kit, freeboot running dash .9199, no dvd using a jumper to get rid of flashing light .

why would you not use the newest version of freeboot?

use the latest JTAG tool to update to 13599
also, use dashlaunch for 13599

You can't use a 3.5 hard drive using the power connector on the top of your 360, that can only power 2.5 hard drives. That's why it isn't detecting the hard drive.. it isn't turning on properly.

Your have to have 12v in order to use a 3.5 hdd, the sata/power connector ontop of the 360 only supplies 5v.

Had to answer your question since most people are just useless and don't bother.

Well it all depends on the voltage. How much does the hard drive draw? I wouldn't recommend the fan power connecter unless you 12v fan mod it to steady pump out the max amount of volts/amps. If you don't do that then the xbox controls how fast the fans speed and it does that by adjusting the voltage.

Though, either way, I'm not sure whether that would supply you with enough voltage.

I believe the safest way would be to drag power from would be right under the power plug on the motherboard. I'm fairly certain if you drag power from there, it would be enough for your needs.

Should be safe enough without a drive. Not sure if it will be enough power but good luck.

Btw, 1000th post ;)
