Console rebooting / stuttering

I bought my 360 about a month ago, and I hadn't fired it up for a week (out of town), so today I wanted to play PGR3 and after 10-15 minutes of playing the 360 just reboots by itself and starts the game all over again. So I thought it was a fluke and I retried the same track, and, just as I finished the race it rebooted again. My console is not modded, but I was going to attempt it in a few days, now I'm not so keen on the idea anymore.

My xbox hasn't had even a stutter (EDIT: 2 stutters just now in doa4) up until today so my question is, is this a sign of a problem or just a coincidence? Has anyone here had random reboot problems like myself? Any input is appreciated.

it never just rebooted for me, but it kept freezing and turning off by itself before i modded it, it aslo gave me the red rings.

I contacted microsoft, and they told me to send it in, bout a month later, the sent me a whole new one. If you have the warranty, thats what i recommend you do, m$ totally has you covered if you've never cracked it open.

It just gave me the red rings while playing PGR3. I'm really disappointed since I've only gamed a total of 15-20 hours in 3 weeks, and 1 week I didn't use it at all. If so little gaming was enough to break it down then...

My new problem is, I rebooted the console twice and the second time the rings aren't displayed anymore and I don't want to send it in and then get it back because they said everything was ok, should I just leave it on and let it fry for good?

maybe try to find someone to repair it for ya, like gamestop. m$ should've sent you a new one, i think it really sucks that they didnt. call customer support for ur 360 and see what they say, besides telling you to send it in.
