Far from here!
Does anyone know if it will be available without the xlcd? I really dont need one since I already have it. So I could just pop mine in when I get the CP.

Umpa, I love how you just assume that he failed at installing the lcd. Thats a little negative don't you think?

junkman, i've heard that 2 versions will come out... one without the lcd and one with the lcd... so no worries i believe for the current owners of the X3LCD

I make no assumption - its a fact that all the ones I have seen look crap thus I asked him how his looked, If I thought it was crap I would have said " I bet it looks crap" - but since I have not seen it I cant say one way or another.

Negative ? - well yes perhaps, but only because I have yet to see one that looks good.

However - you assumed that I assumed and so its no wonder that you are incorrect in your assumption! :)

Internal Water Cooled Xbox 360 (almost) tons of pics!

Hello, this is my first post. Ive been viewing these forums for awhile. I've gotten the inspiration and the know-how to pull the trigger on my very own water cooled Xbox 360. Now this is nothing new, and nothing I am planning on doing is going to shock anyone. I am putting the extra effort in documenting my progress with this project to help the new guy who decides to water cool his box.

My current Xbox 360...

The reason I am water cooling my 360 is for practical reasons. I've modded my xbox a lot over the last year and I'm not interested in purchasing a new unit. The problems all started with a RROD over 12 months ago, and since then, air cooling has been struggling to keep her cool. It is now to the point where I need two 120mm fans placed directly on the CPU/GPU heat-sinks to avoid overheating. I do not get RRODs anymore, but it overheats and shuts off (two blinking red lights) For the record the x-clamp fix was completed with Arctic Silver 5. The 12v fan mod followed after that. Then I cut a hole in the side of the case and bolted a 120mm fan to the outside. Still overheated. Then I placed a 60mmx10mm fan on the arm of the GPU heat-sink. I took the case off completely. Now the DVD drive is off to the side, and taking its place is a CoolerMaster R4 120mm computer case fan on a 12v rail. And when that doesn't do it, I've got the behemoth Scythe 3000rpm Ultra Kaze 120x38mm. That moves 133cfm but sounds like an old vacuum. Now onto a nice quite, efficient water cooling set up. I hope you enjoy this 'journal' of sorts!

Reservoir - Danger Den Brass Fillport i.e. no reservoir.
Tubing - Thermaltake iConnect 1/4" ID UV Green Tubing, 1ft of 3/8 tubing
Fittings - (2) Bitspower 90 degree angle, (5) Bitspower 1/4" compression, (2) Primochill 3/8 to 1/4 reducers, (7) Primochill standard hose clamps
Thermal Paste- Arctic Cooling MX3 with Arctic Cooling thermal paste remover kit.
Thermometer - XSPC LCD Temperature Display
Liquid - Distilled Water with Switftech HYDRX
Lighting - TBD UV leds.
Sleeves - various sizes and colors mesh and heat wraps
Tools - Dremel with plastic and metal 1 1/2in blades. 360 opening tool. Torx-8,10. #2 phillips screw driver. power drill. hot glue gun. electric tape. soldering gun.

I used Performance-PCs.com, jab-tech.com, and my local Microcenter to purchase the materials. I also own all my tools that will be required to complete this mod.

next post, removing heatsinks and thermal paste, mock fitting the fan, adapter, and radiator.

Re: Internal Water Cooled Xbox 360 (almost) tons of pics!

Day 1

Finally all the components are here! I'm going to start with taking apart the xbox and getting it ready to clean the cpu/gpu.

and after

Now I will fit the fan, adapter, and radiator.

I used the dremel to cut the motherboard cage and case so the 70-80 adapter could fit.

I ran into a problem. It seems that the Thermaltake Tubing doesnt fit with the bitspower compression fittings. They are both 1/4" but the ID of the tubing is slightly smaller than the OD of the nozzle on the compression fitting.

So its back to Microcenter to exchange those for some 1/4" barbs. But that can wait till Day 2.

Day 2

It works! test run is a success with no leaks.

Mounted the radiator with barbs and passed some tubing through the case and cage.

Had to clamp the 3/8s reducer hardcore.

Day 3

2 videos showing the loop in action. I will be leaving the setup like this to see if it cools the cpu/gpu. if it does, then I will work on getting the loop inside the case.

Now onto wiring!

The difficulty has been about what I expected. There has not been any major set backs but a lot of fiddling. Space is a premium and i'm beginning to rethink some of my choices for the loop.

I originally wanted to go with 1/4" tubing because it would be easier to fit. Well, the Swiftech MCP350 is 3/8"s. I have to use this big ass reducers to get it to work. And those reducers are causing a problem with getting the pump lines to the radiator and the block. Options are this point are to use a hybrid of 3/8" tubing or to move the pump flush with the front of the xbox (behind the power button board) I have not begun wiring because the final placement of things is not set, and I am going to try and limit the wiring as much as possible.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your interest!
