While opening my friend's xbox, I found that the connectors to place the controller wires onto the motherboard were not present. I had to get rid of the useless pins on the motherboard and splice off the end part of the controller setup, so I had bare wire to connect to the filled-in solder holes on the motherboard where the controllers should be. I have connected the controllers all sorts of ways, looking at my xbox and his, and looking at how I spliced off the head. I am sure I have the correct connections, but perhaps I soldered it on incorrectly. It is a version 1.0 box. I have a pretty picture to illustrate:
What I want to know is
1.) Could the wiring itself be a problem, so even if I connect correctly it would not work?
2.) Could the wiring be different in each xbox?
3.) Does each connection have to work correctly in order for anything to work?
4.) Do all the connections to a single controller have to work for the controller to work?
I have never personally heard of this problem, but it successfully takes any xbox out of commission. Thanks.
