Controller Port 1 Stopped Working Can I...

My fireinds Xbox port #1 stopped working way before he got a Mod chip,so he ordered another port for controller 1&2 and I installed it in his Xbox but it still wont work .I cant see anything wrong or out of place ,controller 1&2 are connected to the same cable so I cant see why #1 wont work and #2 does.
Is there another way to play the emulators because you can only use the first controller to start and play the ones he has?

Just to make sure, did you test it with more than one controller? It might be that.

Yes I used all official XBOX controllers ,but I just neeed to know if its a way to get the XBOX to play the emulators with another controller port since #1 doesnt work.

just swap the plugs inside your box for port 1 and port 2... Unless it's blown out on the mobo alltogether.
