I haven't done any case mods before, so I wanted my first one to be something LED-related. I'm thinking of putting in LEDs in the controller ports, so I wanted some input from those who've done this before on how difficult its gonna be/soldering involved/ best or cheapest place to buy (green or red preferred)/ etc. Thanks in advance!

there are loads of tutorials around but seriously it is the easiest mod ever just a resistor cool led and 2 shaved wires. use a pear of pliers open it up shave the two cables and solder the led and resistor on put the wires back in the metal and duc tape over wala. look around tutorials everyware 
I theory, it should be easy. I've put LEDs in my controller ports, but I found it much more difficult than a cleared jewel, mod chip installation, etc. I mean, it worked just fine and all, but I cut my hands up something awful. I guess I used bad technique. I don't know, I thought it to be more trouble than it was worth. Buy hey, to each their own.

yer its one of the easiest solder jobs iv ever done. as for the nads thing I used some wire tamers or sumit o strip them not a knife if thats what u did. Sorry if u didnt but I had a nasty image of that lol.

Sorry if u didnt but I had a nasty image of that lol. ya thats a pretty good one. i bought my led lights as a package so i din't have to connect all the wireing i just had to trim the led legs plug them into the power wire and glue them into the controller port. and then there was light
Did u buy the package online? I really want to do that mod too, but cant find the necessary parts on the same site, n i pay with money orders. Ive looked at radioshack too but they dont have the right l.e.d's either
Yeah, Radio Shack's selection of LEDs are poor and expensive. However, I did not know that when I bought them. I only later found out about LSDiodes. I did the mod myself, but if I were to do it again, I would just buy a kit and save myself the trouble. But, as one of my above posts said, I think I did it the hard way.

@ Lightning10101 - No, I didn't use a knife... but I may as well have! The results would have been the same. :roll: Actually, I used diagonal cutters, lots of electrical tape, wads of solder, and minor cursing (thats what actually holds it together... kinda a ghetto job because I don't own a hot glue gun) .

controller port leds are the easiest mod to do, the hardest part is removing the medal case around them and even that was not hard.
i think you can also buy premodded led lights off ebay, or maybe some online store, i've seen them on ebay for 20 if u dont want to do it yourself
it is easy and there is a lot of tuts out there, but i did mine without reading one and it was a top quality work
