Controller port problems after installing x3ce

I'm having a problem where I cannot not seem to get my controller to function correctly when i'm in the flashbios screen.

I want to flash the bios from the cd, but I cannot because when I want to select it, my xbox controller does not want to coroporate. I have to press down on the controller to get to that option and when I do, I can;t access that option.

Kind of weird to explain, i've gone back and made sure everything is connected, and I think my soldering job is ok since I can boot the xbox on just fine.

any help is appreciated!
