Just an opinion since I don't know the exact answer to your question.
I wouldn't spend $47 just yet on a product that no one will know for sure if it works since the coolrunner isn't even released. Ubergeek said that programming cables will be released. An LPT at first and possibly followed by a USB programmer later. Considering from a quality company like TX most of there products cost less then $60, I cant see how they whould put out a cable that is going to break the bank.
However if your like me and want to be prepared pick up an LPT card for your PC there super cheep.

i bought the nand x and soldered it to my 512 jasper
i used coolshrimp's jtag tool and was able to read nand
i did not have a old kernal but i wrote xell to my nand anyways, i got worried when the xbox stopped booting up because the only program to erase the nand i could find was NandPro20d and its all command prompt dos like program it took me awhile to get the commands correct so i could fix my xbox
so i guess this is what the coolrunner is for, it should allow my xbox to boot xell
i ordered it weeks ago and it has been on back order
first they said will ship by today october 7th,
then they changed the picture of the item which is now another color (white)
and changed the ship by date to the 14th
doesnt matter though not much can be done with it yet
i was in a hurry learning how to install nand x and use coolshrimp's jtag tool and nandpro
but then after rushing on that, that is when i started to relise there is nothing else for my kernal worh learning yet and i cant even find info on how installing the coolrunner works and such, much less info on running 360 games from a 2tb for any kernal because this/these info/apps doesn't/don't yet
I wouldn't rush to much yet. The coolrunner isn't even released.
Ubergeek said that no company is even supposed to have it on pre order yet, I wouldn't get to worked up over dates because the company is only guessing.
There is nothing released yet to let you use the rgh to boot from a HD. However i'm sure if you check here frequently you will find out as soon as it is released.
