Hello. I was just looking to find out what type of led is used for the power (RED) light on the cool runner. I'm looking to change the color out to match the consoles they are going in.
They look to be the same type of led as what is used in controllers and Phat ROL boards. I used one of my Purple LEDs and replaced one but the light is not very bright at all. I know different colors respond different but I thought maybe its just not the right type of led.

Thanks.

should be standard SMD 0603 LEDs, but to be honest its kind of pointless as once you have all the casing etc back on you can barely see it

Not if you have modified your case and added windows?!

I have several custom cases with windows cut out. They also have custom paint work and Lighting. So in these you see the Red led clearly all the time and red doesnt fit the blue and purple theme.

I also thought they were standard 0603 which is what I used. I just wanted to make sure on the type because like I said the purple one just isnt very bright.

Hi i cant answer in the forum becous im not VIP so i write it here

if you want it brighter you have to replace the resistor before the LED

its a standard 0603 LED but RED and Green one works with 2,3V and Blue,Purple one need 3,0-3,2V

Greets MrG
Thanks for the reply. I'll give that a go in the next few days.
the CoolRunner works with 3.3V so a bridge of solder should be enough to make the LED really bright

i think R7 is the right resistor to replace, check the voltage before the resistor with Multimeter if its 3,3V you can remove it and and make a brige of solder

greetings Mr.G.
I did remove the R7 resistor and put a jumper in between the two points. My purple led is now just as bright as the red one was. Thanks go out to MrG_1981 for finding me my solution.
