wasn't sure if you were really asking this, but my slim's RF board does not have a common gnd, there's no continuity between gnd on the leds and the case or other gnd points on the rf board

I agree this would be a really nice option to have in jrunner.
you are the first i know of to say this is not working for on the slim i am not saying you are wrong just saying maybe there is a change in the slim the same as the phat where some use common ground and some common negative this is a young mod maybe we need to start posting pics of the rf we have and if it works or not and if also you can leave the console pluged in and put black probe to part of metal case and probe posi side of led and see what readings we get as this will show common live or ground? sound like a plan guys???

Post a pic of the board in question and the work you've done. Instead of coming into and being all bad and mighty about you have 20 years experience blah blah blah. I've heard that story about a dozen times.

I have a total of 3 slims I can check the rf board rev on and test common lines (gnd and vcc)

I also have phat rf modules rev f, h, a, va, e, a-1-1, and b.

I will go through tonight and test them all on the same system to see what I can find.

now now, no need to get snippy  higher post count doesn't mean you're any better, lol (btw - notice the smiley, text based communication is harder to convey sarcasm and just silly poking fun through and facial expressions. lmao)

A pic of the board is on pg 20, and I merely stated my experience as I know most ask "how long have you been soldering? are you new?" I am the first to admit I'm no expert, but I certainly know my way around an iron and PCB. as soon as I'm off work I can get pics of the CR and video of the RF in use.

After seeing the post with your RF board I have to withdraw my previous statements. :p Looks like they did indeed change the RF board. I wasn't trying to be snippy its just been a very long day. I missed the post on page #20 which I can't monitor this thread 24/7 so accept my apology. I checked every single version of the phat RF boards that I have and not 1 had the common ground to any point on the led's. Let me ask you something the point you soldered that led to did you scratch it back to copper or was it an existing point.

no apology needed sir, I didn't take offense

I scratched the coating back to get to the gnd. I found a sweet spot for the phat boards that is an existing point where we should be able to get a 0603 led in without needing to modify the rf clip/cover for the #3 (bottom right when horizontal) spot

will do! only 2.25 hrs of my shift and I can work on it.

Sorry if it's hard to read, the image should link to the full size pic.

Red shows the area the GND points are
Orange would be how the led can be placed to clear without having to modify the ROL cover
Blue is where the actual GND vias are that would be used

Hey guys. I did this mod earlier tonight using the controller 4 led and everything went fine. But what I'm wondering is, is there a way to wire it so that you can make all 4 quadrants flash at once?. I tried wiring it with 2 wires and 2 diodes running off the 68ohm resistor on the CR and it DID make the 2 quadrants flash properly but it would only glitch a couple times and then stop. So I'm assuming that wiring it that way is a no go as it must be pulling too much power away from the CR or something. BTW this is on a SLIM.

Another version of this mod I'm wondering is possible is to wire it in such a way that the middle red led will flash while debugging but at the same time the middle green light gets turned off when the red turns on and vise versa? I tried wiring it to just the red led and it wouldn't even turn on. Wondering if it has something to do with the green (left led) being on at the same time?

wow this is very popular mod :)
I'm telling you. LoL way more popular than I expected. I wonder since TX was incorporating this into the next gen chips if they will be able to get the current led's on all version RF boards without adding extra ones.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this small but popular mod. All you're input and help along the way is grwatly appreciated.
