i would like some troubleshooting help in regards to programming the cool runner with JTAG cable.
I realize I should use an official cable, I am waiting on Xconsole to ship to me the cable from Team Xecuter.
I also am awaiting the USB update cable for my Nand-X as well and several QSB's. I have a Later generation Falcon that I have wired up, and tried to program the coolrunner. I then desoldered the wires to the xbox, and I am trying to program the cool runner.
I have it set to Programming mode, via the switch, I have a bright red pwr light and dim green dbg light.
I have wired up a homemade cable that is pretty ugly, but I believe is correct, based on Gligli's schematic. All the parts used are what are required.
I load up Impact and the program detects the coolrunner i believe. The box is blue and says successful. Also Falcon .jed is loaded.
However any operation I try and perform, like program, or erase or anything fails.
I'm running XP 32 bit, with admin account.
I have power running to VCC, from nand-x qsb, and ground to AV jack housing.
I'm a bit sleepy from MW3 now, but If i can answer any questions or anyone can provide help I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time and help. D'Heir

Thanks for your quick respone. I have a wire from the slim wire install pack going from VCC to the 3.3v pad on the nand-x qsb. Since that is what I have installed on the 360 instead of the nand-x coolrunner QSB. Any help is great, thanks again.

On a side note. The cable is detected which leads me to believe that the coolrunner itself is being detected, as it says there is a Xillinix chip on the other side of it.
However I'm not sure if I may have switched the direction of my diodes. There is a thick black line on one side of the diode and I can't really make out the other information on it. In which side should that thick black line be? Towards chip, or towards the parallel port? Thanks for any help.

Currently the Black band (Cathode)? Is on the side towards the chip.

Is there a specific reason that I am not to do that? The xbox is off, and there is no wires connected to the xbox from the Coolrunner. Other than power and ground. The xbox is plugged in and not on.

Check that the LabTools says the chip name is 'xc2c64a' and not 'unknown'.

I had this problem for a while. The cable detects and says 'Identify successful' but still will not program.

To fix this I simply shortened the cable to around 10cm. Also I powered it from LPT port pin 1, no external power.

Good Luck.

Thank you for your reply. The cable that I made was about 3 times longer than it should have been. I shortened it and it finally worked. The programming time took just seconds. Thank you for your reply. Also took your advice about wiring it up so that it was powered from pin 1. Thank again, awesome answer.
