CoolRunner Rev C & Corona Motherboard Question

I have a MW3 320GB Xbox 360 with a Corona board. I went to 360drives.com and put in my manufacture date which is 2011-09-17 Model 1439, and it said I have a Corona board with Firmware 1175. Here is that profile http://www.360drives.com/profile/7109

My question is can I use the CoolRunner Rev C with this console? I believe all I have to get is the CoolRunner Rev C with the NAND flasher, and I should be good. Is this correct?

Here are my system settings based on 360drives.com

System: MW3 Xbox 360
Manufacture Date: 2011-09-17
Firmware: 1175
DVD Drive: Philips-LiteOn DG-16D5S

I really appreciate any help or advice you can offer.

Thanks!

You need an oscillator also, or the recommended Corona QSB upgrade wich includes the required oscillator.

It is very hard to find genuine CR Rev. Cs now.

You should get a CR4, a JRP V2 and possibly a POST Fix adapter.

I think MW3 consoles have Corona V1 motherboards, but you should check for POST_OUT as per this thread.

Thanks for all your help BL4K3Y, & Antalpromille!. I am going to go with the CR4 XL as suggested, and the JRP V2. Thanks so much for the link BL3K3Y. After taking my console apart I have the Corona V1. Should I still get the Post fix adapter for easier install, or am I good without it?

I seen that modchipcentral.com has some good deals, and are giving the QSB V3 with the CR4 at no cost. I think I will go with them. Really appreciate all your help and time.

Thanks so much!

You could lift the heats sink to make sure, but the area around the nand look like it's a V1 as you say.

If you use the Postfix adapter then it will cost you more in the long run because once you remove the heatsync, you'll have to replace the thermal compound and that will cost ~$10.

If R2C6, R2C7 and R2C10 are present near the J2C3 header, the console should have POST_OUT.

However, you should still check because I once had a Corona V2 that had those resistors, but no POST_OUT trace.

im not arguing against you but a component can easily be mounted or un-mounted during manufacturing, but the pads and placement of components is harder to change and a more "obvious" sign or board revision. to not mount a component you just uncheck it, but traces and placement requires another PCB design :)

thats why im looking at those parts instead of a if a resistor is mounted or not.

Wow thanks so much for you help guys! I really appreciate it. I have plenty of CPU paste from upgrading my processors that I can use for the heat sink. I do have R2C6, R2C7 and R2C10 present, but will remove the heatsink to be sure.

I use Tuniq TX-2 Thermal paste for all my processors, and that stuff makes them stay super cool under heavy load, so I think I will use that on the Xbox. Below are a couple shots of my Mobo with the JR2 header viewable. I will post back a shot of the post_out hopefully later today.

I have a tiny inspection camera that I might play with to. Worth a shot.

Thanks again guys. Very appreciative of your help, and time.

After thinking about it, I am going to wait until I order the CR4 XL Corona Bundle from xconsoles with the X-Clamp. I don't feel comfortable taking a screwdriver, or pliers to the x-clamp. I figure if I don't have post-out I can just order the adapter which is no biggie. Thanks again for all your help. Much appreciated.
