Hi guys, I have so far done about 30 rgh so far on slims and am finally hitting a wall today. I recently installed a chip and am getting no flashing green light on the cool runner chip.

When should this green light be lit besides booting? I noticed it was on before I programmed and then was off after? Is that normal? I never paid attention to that before. Also my first few shipments of coolrunners didnt come with a resistor. Now my last batch as this resistor in the package. Is this for phats only? Takes for the help guys!

every 5 seconds until it boots to xell. No green led = bad wire or bad program.

its not a resistor its a 68nF cap - its for the bb jaspers that is discussed in the tutorials.

there are other troubleshooting tips in the official guides

Thanks for the prompt reply. So after the program while the chip is hooked up to the pc should the green light still be lit? Im just trying to narrow it down between a chip/flash problem or something else.

I don't mess with phats just thew me off seeing that in the package and was seeing if something had changed. So my main question is should the green led be lit after the program? It does flash while programming and is lit before a flash but after its just the red.

Ok guys thanks for the quick replies. I will check my soldering with a MM and reprogram the chip and post back.

Thanks!

Ok so I tested everything and it looked good and then tried another coolrunner and its now booting. But the boot times are the worst I have ever seen on a slim thus far. It boots anywhere between 10 seconds and just took 6 mins this time.

Is the blue wire the only wire that could cause this or could the orange wire cause similar issues? It'll go from booting instantly to next boot for 3 mins and then next boot 5. Every other slim I have done booted at max 45 seconds or so. GRRRRRRRRRR!

Just look at some of the threads on Slims, that's the way they are (right now). I would read the threads on Slims you might find some tips there, but it is booting:smile: you just need to fine tune it. Also I heard there is some new Add-on QSB for the Slim you might look into.

Edit: You did 30 RGH and never noticed that the green light goes out when programed, I'm no Einstein but that was obvious on the first one, programed it and green light went out... Hummm must be programed

Honestly man I never had to pay attention because it always just worked. First time I have encountered any type of error. Normally I just hook the chip up flash it lab tools reports flash ok and just went on. Never paid much attention to it.

Well this box has just been the worst thing of my life. A 2 hr job turned into an all nighter and then my keyboard and soldering iron broke. So I pulled out a stronger one then my cat knocked the box off my table when I was downstairs eating and it pulled a pad clean off. Serious fml today.

Ok so I fixed the pad. And adjusted the blue wire some more and bam I got 5 under 20 second boots in a row............... Followed by a 8 min boot. lmao This slim is just insane. I have tried 10 different types of coils, snake shapes, etc. Shortened to blue wire all kinds of stuff. Just when I think I got it it tricks me. Oh well I guess this box is just gonna be a long booter.

Thanks guys

5 under 20 sec boots is fine ....i dont know why you are still messing with it. If it doesnt boot in less than 20 sec turn it off and on again . i would stop messing with it before you mess it up for good . try turning it on , leaving it on , and playing a game with it , it will be much more fun ..hehehe ....just teasing you .

I`m sure you`ve got the best you can from it mate .This hack varies from console to console.

Well its just frustrating. Out of all the rgh slims I have done this one is just being really finnicky. Its for a good buddy of mine and I just wish I could get it fine tuned more. My 2 personal rgh slims always boot in less then 30 seconds. Like you said I guess they are all different and this one just seems to be a bit more finnicky.

Im starting to think maybe the blue wire has a kink in it or something. I'll tear into it more tom and tinker a bit more with it. I'm gonna do another one tom as well with this new batch of coolrunners that I recieved as I never had a problem with stuff like this til my latest shipment.

Thanks

Yea it might be the answer for this one to improve times. I have pretty much tried everything from different coils, lengths, phat and slim switch in different positions. I'll get a 30 second boot followed by a 5 min boot.

My glitched slim downstairs boots in 10 seconds or less everytime. Im off today so I am gonna keep messing around with it.

god these forums are helpful, i NEVER got a green light programming my CR, even when it said executed successfully in the cmd window. hence i never got a green light during the glitch and ended up destroying my board chasing problems down. wonder what couldve caused the bad flash now. i had another guy check and my soldering was perfect, just a warning to others: if ur solder looks good and rings true with a meter, dont f with it. unsoldering/resoldering leads to more problems, i learned the hard/very expensive way lol.
thanks for the thread OP and all who contribut e to this great forum. i hope to be able to help as much some day.
