Copied everything to a new hdd, get error 13

Hi! I'm not quite sure where to post this so I'm trying both the EvoX forum and the General Hardware/Technical Chat.

I've been reading the xbox-live forums and teamxecuter forums for days now, trying to solve my error 13 problem but I can't really find any posts that have helped me so far. I know what the error 13 means, but in short terms I'm not able to run any boot disks on the xbox so that I can access the harddrive.

To help you analyse the problem here's the whole story:
I have an xbox (don't remember which version, think it's a 1.4 or 1.5 but that shouldn't matter) with an xecuter 2.3 chip, the latest xecuter bios and evox dash. As I was going home to my family for christmas I had promised my brother to chip his xbox. Therefore I bought a harddrive in advance and prepared it on my own xbox so that I could just insert it into my brothers when I got home. I copied all the files, including the C and E drive, from my own xbox hdd to my brothers new hdd. I don't remember if I locked his new hdd with my xbox but it's possible (this could therefore be the reason I'm having problems but I'm not sure).

And now I'm back home, having chipped my brothers xbox. It's a version 1.6b (Hynix ram) and the chip is an xecuter 2.6 flashed with the EvoX M8plus_16 bios. Now, with the original harddrive the xbox works just smooth. I haven't installed any dashnoard on it though, but the EvoX logo is showing in the corner and I'm able to run backed up games as well as boot discs like EvoX and Slayers so I'm assuming the chip works fine. When the chip is disabled the MS dash kicks in as it should. But it's when I swap to the new "prepared" harddrive the problems start. The EvoX logo is still there but that's about it. After the splash screen I get error 13 (sometimes error 14 but mostly 13). Now the xbox won't boot from any of the bootdiscs either. If I turn the chip off I get error 6, which should indicate that the harddrive really was locked on my own xbox.

Now, what I would like to know is:

- Is the reason I get these errors that the harddrive probably was locked on another xbox, if so is there a way to unlock the harddrive without that xbox?
- Or is the reason for these errors that the files on the new harddrive are corrupt, if so how can I access it to replace the files?
- Or could it be a conflict since the harddrive was prepared on an older xbox version with a older chip and bios than the xbox it was intended for.

I'm sorry if this was a little too much to read for you guys but I wanted to provide as much information as possible so that you fully understand the problem. I hope there's a solution to this, cause I would hate to format the harddrive with everything that's on it.

That's a completely different error - you would have gotten Error 05.

Error 13 is down to the Dashboard not loading.

I don't think I unlocked it in my xbox before i took it out, and haven't had access to it after putting it in his xbox. I don't have my own xbox with me either so I can't switch it back into my xbox to unlock it.

You should be copying the MS dash files from his 1.6 HDD to the new one. Using yours from an earlier version may be causing the problem.

Is there any way to access the new harddrive without using my own xbox (which I don't have with me)?

In which case, no.

The reason why I stress for people to use ConfigMagic, is that it makes it easy to unlock the HDD using a PC, a DOS disk and ATAPWD.

There's not a lot you can do with this drive without the HDD it came in.

It'll make a good paperweight until then!

lt+

okay quick question have reflashed my benq to lt+ all went well 10 minute job, when i did my lite on which was on 1.51 iextreme, had to build firmware with original ,key ,inquiry etc and lt+ firmware with jungleflasher , but because my pc hates jungleflasher use the lite on recovery dos procedure to send the firmware to the drive, my xbox was already on the new dash before i updated to lt+, put my drive back in and assasins creed loaded happy days. went back an hour later and got 2 red quadrants (top 2 in the circle with the xbox flat) and this disc requires update, the red quadrants stop on even when the box is switched off (but connected to power supply) so i applied the update and assasins creed plays fine so no issues but still have these red lights never came across this before any ideas guys. looks quite good tho 2 red 2 green could start a trend :D
