Hi,

I'm having a bit of bother copying my DVD's to my USB hard drive. Its a Jtag Xenon and i'm using FSD (latest). If I use the install game option from the original MS dash and put the game on my original Xbox hard drive it takes just a few mins and I can patch it with NXE2GOD and it works a treat, I can then copy the files in FSD to my HD and FSD sees them in the XBLA section - all good...

If I copy the same game using FSD Copy DVD, it takes for ever to copy the dvd - like hours and hours and then might not even work and give dirty disc errors.

Why ? - If the original dash can copy them ok and they work ok - why does FSD way of file copying fail ?

Is there a way to extract the contents of my games (original discs) so I can simply file copy them to my HD via my PC - a mac version would be swell but windows will do.

Thanks

Ump..

I think there's an issue with the copy DVD function in earlier versions of FSD. I had a similar issue when copying over an Xbox1 game. The files were not copied into their relevant subdirectories which meant it couldn't find them. There are utilities out there to extract the image into a file structure, but the other way is just to use the file manager and copy them over that way.

Have you tried using XeXMenu's CopyDVD feature?

Thanks guys i did not think of using xexmenu.

The problem with FSD is its incredible slow read speeds, like 4 hours for a game that takes 10 mins with the dash - lol then gived dirty disc errors. Its almost like it cant read the disc except the disc plays fine and copies ok in dash.

I'll give xexmenu a bash and tell you what happens.

well I have had a go, and I can't get it to work at all with that - I have not found a copy function in it !

Its version 1.1 I have, I can browse all the drives but thats it - I don't see any kind of file manager at all.

I dont like xexmenu !

While using the file manager, press the Y button and a menu will pop up. From the menu, you can use the CopyDVD function.

Its kind of simple really umpa2011 ether has no clue as to what his doing or the disc is scratched or his drive or Lens are on there way out.
Because as i said already in an earlier post there is nothing wrong with the latest FSD it rips game discs fast and if he cant get it working in Xexmenu then as i said its him or faulty disc or drive..

So my question is is you FSD up to date have you updates turned on in the setting on FSD have you a network cable plugged in so it can update to the latest FSD...

I know its simple - thats why I like FSD. I have two Jtag machines one with a Sammy and the other with a BenQ, both copy fine using the Xbox dash - both fail with FSD DVD copy. (this is a hardware or software issue - not user)

With XeXmenu 1.1 - I don't know what I'm doing so I don't know how to copy the disc with that (that is a user issue) I'll look at it again - but like I said I don't like the program FSD looks much better and seems more intuitive to use.

Both machines are connected to the net (not xbox live) and both had a plug-in update from the FSD servers.

Just to add the sammy drive is quite old but the BenQ is quite newish.

Now I'm not complaining about FSD - I think its great and thats why I am using it, I just don't understand why it wont copy my games when the xbox dash does ?

I have decided to flash an old xbox 360 with 0800 and copy my games and see if the copy's do any better.

Thanx guys

If you manage to install the 0800 firmware to rip your games or make your own backups you might want to consider using iso2god tool. I personally prefer that tool as it crops the file sizes by getting rid of uneeded files such as video padding, updatesystem folder, etc.

So most 7.2gb iso images end up like 4-6gb in size before I transfer them to my jtag HDD via FTP. Saves you a consideranle disc space on the long run.

Hi Guys,

Well I flashed 0800 on an old xbox with no dvd key - I found out that it seems the drive requirements to play a disc are not as high as it is to copy one. What I mean is this; I flashed 0800 to a samsung drive and put in my original KingKong game, CBC failed to even register a disc was inserted - This game plays fine in this drive with stock firmware !

I then put in my copy of FarCry 1 - it recognised the disk, and them bummed out at the SS part with some kind of error. It seems that Johnny2good was right - these drives are probably on their last legs and can just about manage to play games but thats just about it. I still don't know why the dash can copy them - perhaps it copy them in a different way ?

Anyway - I'm going to use the NXE2GOD way as that works for me

Cheers

Anyhow - I have it working in a fashion - so I'll carry on
