I'm having a little problem here, and sorry if it sounds stupid but how am I suppose to view the movies I have copied on my HDD? Do I just play file by file, or is there an application that will execute and play the movie like it was a DVD? I mean like being able to use the root menu and stuff.

u arent supposed to copy the whole dvd, just copy the files in video_ts and put them in a folder and XBMC will play them.

oh and when in XBMC viewing the files in the movie, hit the button that says stack and it will all go into one file and just play that

i use "dvd shrink" to copy my movies that i own to my xbox hard drive because with dvd shrink you can customize what you copy and downsize the movie if necessary. then i use xbmc to view them

- both are free

FYI, XBMC movie playback is based on mplayer project and even in release 1.1.0 it does not support DVD menus yet. Also it doesn't have any preferences for prefered subtitles (meaning that if you want to watch subtitles, you have to enable them each time and if you want to have subtitles other than english you have to cycle everytime in the subtitles menu to find them and make them active.

How to mod 7485 fw to work with 9345 drive

Hello!
Here is my problem, i mean i have bad 7485 drive. it is bad becouse it have problems reading discs. I tried to calibrate, its 2.85K ohm on the resistor - sometimes it reads something, but thats not the problem i am asking. I ve got a 9345 drive, i am not sure but i think that i blowed its pcb. My question is - Can i put 7485 pcb into the 9345 drive? I ve got a dummy.bin from 9345, i tried to flash 7485 with that key and replace the broken pcd with it, but it is not working - i mean its looking normal, but when i put a dvd inside its spinnig, but it suddenly stopping saying "open dvd". I think that it is a problem conected with barcodes on the 9345 laser, its my speculations - i just think that 7485 pcb cannot cooporate with the 9345 laser, becouse of bad patched firmware. Is there is any way i can connect 7485 pcb with the rest from 9345 and get it work? How should i do it?
Thanks for a reply, please write to me comprehensibly, i dont use english as my primary language, and i am not too good at english.
Thanks, i hope my situation is clearly explained.

Re: How to mod 7485 fw to work with 9345 drive

yes swap the board no problems! (little soldering but easy enough!)
The hardware is all identical - only the fw that differs!
Sadly tho you state you tried to flash your 9 series info onto your 7 series board!
essentially you may now have 2 dead drives ?
the box you're trying to fix had the 7 series right?
did you dump the fw from that? as if you didnt and have flashed it with your 9 series info, then you now dont have the required info to work with your box!
UNLESS i am reading what you have written wrong?

Re: How to mod 7485 fw to work with 9345 drive

now i realized that it is more complicated than i thought, especially after reading upper post. If i understand if right, the hardware is all identical means than replacing only a laser is not complicated, so i soldered the 7485 board back to its home drive, and replaced the effete laser with the 9345 one. Everything should be without any problems right? It should work, but its not. Its spins normally, but after several sec of work, it stops and my box says "open drive" or something like that. Is that mean that the 9345 laser that i replaced with is blown too?
I was wondering about the firmware, becouse as i know the firmware contains data about the laser code (i mean the code below the barcode on the laser). I hex edited my firmware and replaced the old laser data (adr. 1FEFF - but thats not important i think=) with the code from the 9345 laser that i was replacing with, and of course it is not working - the same reaction as i wrote above. My question is - Is the 9345 laser is blown up? I know that it is intricate, but I hope You understand what i wrote.

Ps. I hope that braveheart43 will write me something, that will make me happy=P

Thanks!!

Re: How to mod 7485 fw to work with 9345 drive

Sadly mate - you seem to have made a fairly simple fix into something really complex!
you have swapped lasers, hex edited fw, flashed boards in sequences that dont seem logical!

Open tray could be bad laser or it may just need adjustment or cleaned

however i am lost just reading your 2 posts as what to suggest!
