Corona 4gb questions

I think I have my 4GB r/w kit working but I'm not 100% sure.

The computer recognized a new drive connected and I could read the nand. I dumped two 49mb BINS which compared to be the same. Then I dumped the 4gb files and again they matched. So my first question is how do I know if my dumps are good other than a comparison check?

Additionally, I never saw a memory size associated with the drive in j-runner, It was just blank. Jrunner also didnt spit out a cpu key either. I dont know if it should have at this point.

I can use the "read nand" and "create ECC" buttons in jrunner, using the 4gb Nand R/W QSB, However, write ecc, create image, and write nand button dont work for me. I'm guessing those steps go through jr Programmer>Coolrunner instead of the 4GB Nand R/W kit. That sound right?

I also included a screen of programming the coolrunner if anyone saw anything worth mentioning.

Thanks.

Not at all - all functions are instigated from the top buttons. Once you choose read/write, the extra window in the bottom right becomes available.

Please complete the template with pics/logs etc if any further help is needed.

So, write ecc, create image, and write nand are for when connected to the 4gd nand r/w kit? I wonder why write ecc, etc didnt work for me then.

I'm going to keep reading as there doesnt seem to be a one stop shop for corona v2/4gb read write kit/CR3 lite info.

I was reading the rhg roadmap by Martin C:
http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78885 but it doesn't say anything about ecc, creating images or writing images. There's also a disclaimer that says certain steps dont even apply to corona v2.

When you click the write ECC button, the bottom left window should become active and allow you to write to your NAND.

I'm assuming by what you're saying this isn't happening?

Bottom left window? I get a window popping up in the middle right part of j-runner when I click write ECC.
At that point only the write button is clickable. I realized my original nand dump was selected in source.
So, I assumed that meant that I wrote the 49mb bin file I just dumped back to the nand which didnt make sense to me (is the ECC being patched to the clean dump or something?).
Then I selected the ECC file I created as the source and wrote that too.

I'm guessing one the things I did is wrong, or both, or neither..
I dont really know.. lol.

Apologies, I meant bottom-right.

If you close the window after reading and then choose create ECC/Write ECC, it should re-open with the option to write.

Update: So after I created the ECC, and wrote ECC to the nand I get this Error in J-runner:

------------------

Reading from K:\ to C:\Users\Xbox360 Modding\J-Runner\output\nanddump2.bin
Too Many Bad Blocks
Header is wrong..
Corona 4GB
RGH2 Selected
Nand Initialization Finished
Done!
in 0:04 min:sec
Comparing...
Can't check for bad blocks. No Spare data. Possibly Corona 4GB
Can't check for bad blocks. No Spare data. Possibly Corona 4GB
Nands are the same

--------------------------------

The part about "bad blocks/header is wrong" was NOT a message I got before writing the ECC file to the Nand.

How do I erase just the ECC file I put on the Nand?

If I still get the error after erasing the ECC that I added, how do I start over from scratch with my (supposedly) good nand dumps?

-------------------------------------
Update: I made a new ECC file by first putting the good dumps back in the output folder but then when I went to write that ECC file I got this error:

Writing to K:\ from C:\Users\J-Runner\output\image_00000000.ecc
Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

Whats that most likely due to?

Thanks.

I found out its a software issue. When I write my original dump back to the nand, I can read with no errors.
As soon as I write an ECC file, thats when the errors occur (writing/reading).
When I try to "create XEbuild image" it asks for a CPU key. So how do I get my CPU key?
Also, when I turn on the xbox, all I get is a beep (no fan).

It looks like I'm doing something wrong with Jrunner but I'm not sure what. By all indication my Nand dump is good, and if its rewritten successfully, shouldn't I be able to boot stock?

Update: learned I cant have the read/write ribbon attached when I turn on the xbox. So it starts now. I'm going to try and get my CPU key through IP.

I can boot stock now but when I try and write ecc I still get:

Writing to K:\ from C:\Users\J-Runner\output\image_00000000.ecc
Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

I tried running jrunner as administrator but it didnt help. I read somewhere that there is a ground or something I need to try and fix this error?
Will desoldering Coolrunner fix this error too?

Aside from that, when I boot with coolrunner, green light flashes, then stays solid like it glitched but no XeLL (Black Screen)

What motherboard/laptop manufacturer are you using? I got the cyclic redundancy error on my ASUS mobos when I had USB host controller enabled in the BIOS. Disabling it made Win give me a "This device can function faster in a USB 2.0 port" issue but allowed proper writing of the NAND. I find it odd that this only happens when you try to write the ECC and works fine with stock though. Check for solder bridging underneath your R/W qsb (very common, you have to be more careful than usual with these vertical solder pads). If there's none, possibly try a different SD-USB read/write adapter.

Its a dell precision 6400 laptop and I'm using a direct USB port, not a hub.

The cyclic redundancy error only started after I wrote the ECC the first time.
I'm only rewriting it to nand because something went wrong somewhere (XeLL screen doesnt pop up after glitch)

One thing I can think of is erasing then writing nand and ECC instead of just overwriting but "erase" is grayed out in jrunner.
I also read someone else got a glitch with a black screen too (corona v2, like mine) and they had to use IP to get the CPU key instead. I tried using IP (through a router, scanning with the router IP and then the xbox IP) but it didnt work.

Does the cat cable need to go directly from computer to XBox to get CPU key?

cyclic redundancy issue solved.. sort of..

Something about an installed coolrunner effects the nand r/w process.
Its a some combination of: setting an installed coolrunner to PROG, unplugging ground, and then unplugging and then reconnecting power to the xbox.

So now I wrote an ECC with no error. Boot up with a corona 2-2 timing file and its been trying to glitch for an hour so far..
Is it just a matter of the right timing file now?

I tried an RGH2 timing file and it made the green light turn on steady right away and the fan speed up 500% or so. I'm guessing I dont use RGH2 or RGX timing files.

Tried Writing the 4gb file back to the nand and learned that you have to erase the nand first or you get the cyclic redundancy error.

No luck glitching with the fresh 4gb nand and fresh ECC so far.

Guess I'm going to check my wiring again if no one had advice on timing files.

What chip are you using? what dip settings (if any) and what wire lengths.

Have you seen that anywhere before? No? That's because it's not true. we need to see images of your install ASAP.
