OK first off this is a retail unit, never modded a friend gave it to me because it beeps and dings and shuts off I think at one point it would also start back up after a few minutes. when i got it I took it apart and it had lots of roach sh*t stuck all over the ROL daughterboard and the inside of the faceplate so I put another chip and faceplate on it after cleaning the entire board and giving it a once over but it still does the same thing. I've tried every rol board and faceplate I have (probably 4 each) Same thing??? Then I noticed if I take ROL board out with it running of still beeps and dings. I looked at the bus that rol is soldered to, looks OK but the strange part is if I touch the south bridge ever so slightly the console turns off. Facing console top left side where the copper stamp is I touch the outer rim of the SB on the side and its like the static on my finger kills it with the slightest touch and it never fails to do so I've rebooted and confimed its got to be static or something it dies everytime i do it. but if I touch it with a pen or something it doesn't kill it. If anybody has a suggestion I am willing to try anything but I think its going to need SB reflow or replace but I hope its something simple.

wouldnt bother with a reflow tbh,sounds like its going to need replacing.

it is a very strange thing. I don't want to even work on it because it runs fine i cant remember if it dies without the ROL board in but it does still ding. But (correct me if i'm wrong) but doesn't the SB control the ROL board?
