Correct install?

Hi gang

I have installed an xecuter 2.6 ce into my 1.4 xbox . It already had a x-shadow chip in which i removed first. The install went ok and no prob when booting up. THe cromwell flashbios 3.03 appears. I then tried to install the evox_m8 bios onto the chip (both banks -don't ask why, i know i am a dumbass) but now all it wants to do is FRAG . It does this 3 times (start, restart,start,restart,start.restart,start). Not totally happy with this i checked by soldering and checked my D0 point the track/trace has lifted slightly . I had a go at resoldering, and seems find. But still fragging . I hot swapped the chip and i can now access the flashbios 3.03 on bank 1 , but still frags on bank 2. It works fine with the chip disabled.

Can anybody give me an idea if i have screwed my mobo or not. I have ordered a programmer but i am not expecting that in any rush as they seem to be hard to come by in the UK. I am hopeing that it is just a rubbish bios and by seeing the flashbios screen everything is ok.

you are are lucky that you've got a flashbios screen to work with

forget about the evox bios and get the latest X2CL 5035 from xbins and flash the vOld version to your box as it is for v1.0-1.5 boxes

its already 512k so there's no need to resize anything, simply flash by whichever method you prefer

the bios will go to bank 1 automatically and once you've got your dash set up, get a program from xbins called Flash X and run it as an app under your dash to flash bank 2 with another bios of your choice or a backup of flashbios

reason for Flash X is that i don't really like flashing 1mb bios incase something goes wrong and you're left with nothing to work with

ile also say you are getting frag because the wrong bios is on the chip that is all, do as mk champion has said give that bios a whirl
