I jtagged my old xbox a few years ago using the Lpt connect and thought that was hard and very slow so this time I bought a nand-x as I heard could thinks about. I managed to backup the nand few times then had to move my xbox only to start getting the "could not detect the controller error" message. After finally sorting that I backed the nand a few more times I then installed xellous instead of xell:rolleyes2:. but now all i get is the "could not detect the controller error" all the time I even removed the QSB's pads and tried soldering straight to the points put still no joy. Am not the best at soldering but thought I would give it ago as I manager to do my last xbox ok. The xbox was bought second hand and when I opened it I could see someone had already attempted to jtag so the mess isn't all my doing:smile:

Forgot to add if I turn the jtag off I get the e79 error but if I turn it on it boots into xell/xellous and I can get my cpu key

Rename the FreeBOOT image to updflash.bin, pop it onto a FAT32-formatted USB, plug the USB into the console and boot XeLLous. If everything went well, XeLLous should tell you that an update was found, let it flash and when it asks you to remove the update and power cycle, do so but remove the power cable for 30 seconds and then try and boot the console :).

Are you using XeLL? XeLLous shows your CPU and DVD keys at the bottom whereas XeLL only shows the fuse sets. If the console only has XeLL, update to XeLLous and then try the updflash.bin USB update again.

Download XeLLous, rename xell-1f.bin to updxell.bin, drop that onto a FAT32-formatted USB, connect it to the XBOX and boot XeLL.

It should say something along the lines of "XeLL update found".

Once it does, let it complete, power cycle the console and you should be presented with XeLLous (remember, it will display the CPU and DVD keys at the bottom). Once it does, pop updflash.bin onto the FAT32-formatted USB and follow the procedure I mentioned above.

Thank you so much for that am about to put it back together and finish it off
Do you think it's still worth sending this nand-x back and getting it tested
