okay, so i bought the NAND-X a long time ago, installed QSB's on my falcon so if i get a bad flash, i can reflash through the NAND-X. So, one day, i flashed and got RRoD, so i reflashed through the QSB's that were still on the board so i didn't mess with the solder. The next time i got RRoD from a nand error, i attempted to reflash with the nand x, but i kept getting couldnt detect flash controller. so im like WTF!? i never m,essed with them and they always worked. and im a VERY experienced jtagger. I have jtag'd over 20 consoles. So, i decided to get my old SPI flasher, and it worked perfectly... now that makes me wonder, the NAND-X is messed up? so i just put it aside. Then i received a jtagable xbox. so i installed the wires directly (by cutting off the pin headers) which i have been doing lately to all my jtagables and worked great. So i installed the wires, and tried it and got another couldnt detect flash controller!!! its really starting to piss me off, cause i now know its not me, its the nand-x itself! so i tried my SPI flasher and worked! so i was 100% positive it was the NAND-X. So, what do i do?!?! I'm assuming i can't get a refund lol, because i already used it.

Which SPI programmer are you using by the way? I might be looking for one my self.

I believe the could not detect flash controller on some consoles is caused by the NAND it self not the NAND-X. Few boards that seem to give cross reading between NAND points after a NAND read or write.

I have asked few of those who got the 'could not detect flash controller' message to take some readings and report back but one's done this so far.

its the nand-x. because i have tried it on several boards, all didnt work, tried the SPI on those boards, worked

Well that didn't answer any of my questions. Never mind.

What readings are you looking for?
I have two boxes (one xenon and one zephyr I believe) that got the "could not detect flash controller".
If the readings can be taken without an oscilloscope I may be able to assist.

Just use a multimeter and see if you get cross reading or continuity between any of the 5 points for the NAND on J1D2.

i"ve been having the same problems. The drivers are installed perfectly but it cannot detect flash controller.

My USB SPI works great though. Not sure what happened as it seemed to have started this problem at random.
