Couple hardware questions

I have been searching quite a bit. Looking on Team Executor's recommended stores for 360 modding hardware there are a ton of different items. What is currently the best recommended thing to buy if looking to mod my 360. I currently have a J-R Programmer v2. I know my 360 has the Corona Motherboard made in 2011. I have seen references to CR4 XL, Demon, etc. I am very comfortable soldering, taking apart unit, etc, I just do not want to buy the wrong things, etc. I just want to play games off my hard drive. Looking currently at the CR4 XL, it says it does RGH2+, RJTAG+, JTAG, but then the J-R Programmer V2 and the TX Slim Trinity QSB are listed as optional. Is my J-R Programmer not going to be all I need to purchase? For playing games off Hard Drive, do I still need to worry about the DVD Firmware?

Also, what does the initial's CB stand for in all of the tuts talking about dashboards.

Again, I have searched, and am searching, I dont expect anyone to do the work for me, but maybe point me in the right direction/clarify a little for me. Even when reading the descriptions for all the various hardware modding components you can buy, there full of terms and acronyms, etc.

I am no stranger to this, I modded the original PS1 with a soldered in modchip back when I was 16-17 years old, there is just a lot of options, especially in the hardware you can buy. I am not afraid to spend money to do what I want, just want to buy the right stuff.

Thank You In Advance.

First off you're going to need to open your corona up and see exactly which version it is, depending on the version you might need to buy the post fix adapter. Your JR programmer should work fine. You're probably going to want to get the 4Gb nand R/W kit as well. You can get away with not buying the quick solder boards, but it makes things allot easier on ya. As far as the Demon goes, it all depends on weather you want a dual nand setup? One Nand for online use, the other for rgh/jtag use. If I were you I would get the CR4xl chip, in my opinion that's the best chip TX has made.

So I guess to sum it up, things you need to get are:

Glitch chip (CR4xl, etc...)
4Gb Nand R/W kit
Post Fix adapter (depending on version of corona)

Optional stuff:

Quick solder board(s)
Demon

Good luck man, Here's a thread to help you identify your corona board:

P.S you might want to be careful when mentioning playing games off the hard-drive, this forum takes piracy very seriously.

Thanks for all of the info man. I know everyone probably says this, but I really am donating this to my church which runs an afterschool program. They have an xbox setup, and all of the discs are scratched/unusable. I am there IT guy, so I have been trying to find a way to let them have these xbox's working without having to worry about the discs.

Thanks again

Ok, so I got my 360 apart today. It looks like I have the V2 Corona Motherboard according to the Official Corona Motherboard Identification thread. According to the picture I have the V2 with Post Out Ok. Does that mean I need the Post Fix Adapter? I'm guessing I need the CR4xl chip and the 4Gb Nand R/W kit. Any recommendations on anything else I might need. I am not really clear on what the Post Fix Adapter is used for or when it's needed, I have been searching.

Thanks in advance.

No you will not need the post fix adapter. You will need the SD card r/Rw kit and the TX CR4xl. You will not have to use your jrprogrammer for this perticular Xbox. You will only use the r/Rw kit. You will have to have the software to program the cr4 as well, basically just JRunner.

Awesome, got those parts ordered already, thanks for the info. Just for my own learning, and because after this, I am doing the same with an older Phat model, what situations do you need to use the J-R programmer for, and also curious , what is the post fix adapter used for?

Thanks

The JR Programmer is used on any Xbox that doesnt have the 4GB nand, so you will need it for your Phat model. But as for the post fix adapter, in corona V3 and up M$ removed the motherboad traces that went from the CPU to the points on the mobo. The post fix adapter has a pin on it that you slide under the CPU and it touches the post out point needed for the glitch process. hope that answers your questions.
