Couple of newbie questions

I am going to purchase the Xecuter 3 and I want to know a couple of things. First does it matter which brand of harddrive I put into my Xbox? I have heard that it has to be lockable, what does that mean? I currently have a couple of 5400 rpm 120gig Maxtor harddrives that came out of TIVO boxes and I am hoping I can use one of those. I also have a 7200rpm 8mb cache western digital that I could use but I am afraid of the heat output. Also after I pu this modchip in will I be able to copy my games to my computer and burn backups of them to blank dvd media? If so what media works best dvd-r or dvd+r and what brand of media? I mostly use Verbatim dvd-r discs for dvd backups will these work? And finally do I need to flash the bios once I get the modchip installed or should I use the bios that comes on the modchip? Sorry for being such a noob, thanks for any help.

1. you need an EIDE or IDE HD.
2. It does have to be lockable - im not sure what it means - im kinda of a noob to!
3. you can put games on your pc, but you could just burn the games straight to your HD and play them without the disc.
4. Well, it depends what drive you have. if you have a samsung or philips use CD-RW (i think) i have samsung and it reads CD-RW's perfectly.
5. I Use imation discs, or datawrite.
6. you can use any bios, you can downlad illegal or legal ones from the net. i hope this helps dude!

About flashing your bios... I figure you will be more happy in the long run if you are using an 'illegal bios' most commonly the 'X3 1959 v16 Plus' or the 'X3 1959' depending what xbox you have.

the only reason you need to lock the hdd is if you are going to use the m$dash and go on live.

otherwise, you don't need to.

Ritek DVD-R are VERY good disks.
