Hello everyone. I'm a total NooB, but am loving every minute of learning what this Xbox can do !!!! The sky's the limit so far !!! Time to go beyond.

Anyways. Once I originally installed my X3 chip (that I just bought 2 weeks ago), everything went great. I was able to play a backed up Forza Motorsport right from the disk, so I was pretty happy about that. I was pretty sure it was the X3 2914 Bios that I originally installed with the Evolution X dashboard. So, as I was playing around and learning how to use Slayer's Install Disk, I was trying different dashboards / applications / etc when things kind of went silly. the "FRAG" thing was happening and whatever, so, I just started over again. Formatted the drives, installed the Bios again (actually tried others along with different dashboards). But now, I've installed the same Bios (2914) with several DB's, but can't get Forza to play for the life of me. Plus, when I boot up, I get the Xbox screen with the "Rox My Box" logo. Then it jumps directly to the screen where the X3 logo is spinning in the background and the first thing on the menu is X3 Config Live. Is it supposed to do this ??? I think it's the default X3 screen, rather than booting straight to the Dashboard. But, I think originally it went straight to the dashboard. Most Bios' give me a flashing error where it doesn't recognize the Bios on the disk (all I've done is use flashboot to install them so far). But, after the xbox crashes from trying to play Forza, or just flashing and rebooting, etc.....once I get it back to the X3 default screen (with X3 Config Live on top of menu), for a split second, a text box containing "Fixed Datasets" pops up in the middle of the screen and everything is back to normal. Do I need a working MS dashboard for things to work properly with the chip ??? I think that might be my problem if I do need it. I bought the Xbox used and it was soft-modded before I got it, so, not sure exactly what's going on there.

ANy hekp with my Forza problem and my not booting to dashboard problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Can you get your dash up when you choose reboot to dash in x3cl? To boot to dash, disable autostart x3cl in the customize x3 bios menu choose your dash and make it first in your dashboard boot priority menu in customize x3 bios. If you have installed evox from slayers, you should have an option: play game from dvd/reset. Insert your disc and select this, your game should play. That is unless things are screwed up from the softmod. I hear they can do this.

Thanks a lot. That's exactly the stuff I needed to know. It all makes sense now. I can disable the X3CL, and it goes straight to the "Slayer's Install Disk - installed dashboard". But, quick question.....dashboard priority.....why wouldn't it or how do you get it to boot to a dashboard that isn't the first priority ?!?!?! Like, if Avalaunch is my top priority and evolution X is my second top priority.....how could it ever boot to Evolution X ??? Is there a button you press on startup or something ?!?!?

Anyways, that's not a big deal. I got the hang of how everything works so, it's all good. But, what still blows me away is how my Forza Backup doesn't work (after it worked fine at the very start of all the dashboards / bios's. What could be different now that wasn't different then, when I first installed the chip. I don't get it. I'm guessing it's the softmod that's messin' it up, but is it possible to "re-soft-mod" it with Slayer's ??? Does it have the capabalities to flash the original Xbox Bios (is there even one there ?!?!?!)

Anyways, thanks for all the help.....any more insight on Forza would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Schlicorice

With regards to Forza, make sure the date/time is set correctly in the MS dash, the HDD is locked and you've got the X3 configure properly (i.e. all the correct video resolutions are enabled/disabled and so forth.)

The only use i have found for the dashboard priority is if i am working on a .ini file or .xml file for a dashboard, it can be good to have a backup dash. If you screw up and it can't load the top priority it can then load the second priority dash.

A good idea is once you get your dash the way you want it, backup your C and E partitions to to your computer hdd or to a disc. This can save you many nightmares if you start playing with it and screw it up.
