am i right in say that the cpu key is on the cpu and not on the nand if so could i use a nand dump from a another xbox and flash it back to the bad xbox to get the dvd key

First make sure your donor nand will work, if you then flash it with the donor Nand, you will have to flash your dvd drive with the SAME dvd key the donor xbox has. Both xboxes will now have the same nand, same drive key...
You are correct about the CPU and key being paired. You will still need your old cpu key to place into your donor nand, but if you can get your old CPU key you can probably just retrieve your old drive key to start with.
**EDIT** Of course unless you have a rework station and another CPU that you know the key of, but of course that is unlikely and unpractical.

Why not tell us the whole story instead of speculating? There may be other solutions depending on what's happened.
sorry for not getting back to people but heres what happend
i have got a xbox with no dvd key so i thougth that i would rgh it to get the dvd key but when i started i found that it had at some time been jtag but it had been removed and been updated to the new dash i installed the coolrunner ever think went ok all looked good but when i turn the xbox on it just had a black screen no sound plus the controller would not connect so uninstall ever think and refashed one of the dumps back to it but still black screen i have check for shorts but it all looks clean as any one got any ideas whats happened

No offence, but from the level of information you've given here, I don't think you have the foggiest idea what you're doing.
Have you done a DVD key recovery before?
What console was it? What's the CB value?
Why dump more than once? Were there errors in the first dump? Are there any bad blocks? Are they remapped?
I don't plan to spend the next hour probing you for information, so either know what I'm asking or send the console (and the nand dump) to someone who can fix it.

the xbox acts like it it as no av cable in i have got another xbox and when the av cables left out the conntoller dont connect and acts the same as the bad xbox any ideas anyone

The underlying problem unfortunately is you not knowing what you're doing.
I can't educate you across a forum, just point in the right direction:
1. Check ALL soldering.
2. Ensure your dumps are good in 360 Flash Dump Tool.
3. Use Multi_builder 0.4 to build the ecc image from the good dump.

update i just completed a Zephyr and a Jasper with no problems so as to the Fulcon well i have found that the the nand was bad in the first place and the xbox was already black screening before i got it and that it had been getting worse as time went on this i did not know at the beginning so thanks for all your help peeps
