modsupplier is legit<snip>
I ordered a CR4 XL from modsupplier after xconsoles went OOS and received it yesterday. Paid with credit card and the goods are authentic. I also seem to remember reading somewhere that modchipcentral was an option even though they aren't an official reseller. They still show in stock, but no specific numbers.

I don't see how credit card companies or even paypal can stop sites from selling modchips since we have a solution now: bitcoins. Can't they just add this kind of payment option?

I don't think it's a matter of credit card companies or paypal stopping these sites. It is just these sites don't want to operate without the ability to accept credit cards. I would be perfectly happy to buy from xconsoles or any other site with a check, they work just fine to convey payment from one entity to another. It is a pain to have to wait, but I'm sure the guys here who buy in volume to do mod work would probably rather have that option, than none at all? (I'd be interested to hear opinions from those who do mods on this.)

As for bitcoins, I think the vendors would actually like to be able to convert their payment back into currency, and with the instability of the bitcoin medium, I don't think anyone will be diving into that for their sole source of revenue anytime soon. (Reference the collapse of Mt. Gox and their loss to hacking of more than 850,000 bitcoins over the course of many years. Also the steady decline of bitcoin value over the last 7 months. From ~$671 07/2014 to a current $224/XBT 02/2015.)

01media still have stock, ships worldwide and accepts credit cards. Prices are not as good as xconsoles or CK3 but is an alternative, and they are official reseller of TX products.

We can’t talk for the other resellers that decided to close, but for us not having direct merchant facility’s really just makes things to hard. We pretty much only hung around this long because of the Xecuter range and love selling their gear and the customer base. We aren’t closing just yet, we will be around until June 30[SUP]th[/SUP] 2015 which is the end of the tax year here and need to sell off all our stocks which pretty much just consists of a lot of Xecuter stuff and console service parts.

We have Western Union setup now and is working well, few guys from the UK have been using it and seem happy even though it’s not the most ideal payment method.

We had a thread up explaining our whole situation but had Oggy take it down for the moment as we are trying to work a couple of other things out, but will most likely ask him to enable it again soon so you can all see the whole story.

We have plenty of Xecuter stock on hand, CR4, J-R v2 all the QSB’s, Demon Phat with the new Corona conversion QSB, we even have the new R-JTAG QSB v3 which will be added up to our Phat kits most likely in a weeks’ time. The amounts we have on hand will last a couple of months easily. We are a proud official worldwide reseller as well.

We dropped prices on most things to offset the fee charged by Western Union to send the transfer.

Yeah it sure does, starting to feel old lol. It’s been an interesting ride with lots of ups and downs.

Thanks for the best wishes and support over the years. Going to be interesting for the couple of us left here taking a new direction, but really not the worst time for it to be happening anyway.

Hey modsupplier quick question, I placed an order just this past week, w/CR4 xl and qsb for phat, would I be getting the new qsbs or the previous qsbs? Just wondering bout that since you said in the next week or so, I feel all sad all the mod resellers are going the way of the dodo, but looking forward to getting my package from you all! Thanks for being there for us, and for me especially since I'm all r-jtaging my phat all late,

We are still in the process of selling the last of the CR4 XL Phat QSB kits that had the JTAG ALT QSB used for the R-JTAG+ installs. So your order will be the older kit, it’s not a big deal and still works fine for R-JTAG+ installs.

We should be moving to the new kit which has replaced the JTAG ALT QSB with the R-JTAG QSB v3 by say the end of the month at a guess. We will be updating the Phat QSB Kit page once this happens to notify customers the kits are now shipping with the newer R-JTAG QSB v3.

Yeah it is kinda sad, but it is what it is I guess. We imagine some stores will remain open and find payment solutions, every stores situation is different. Because we have been around since 2003 and now it’s so tough with the trouble with payment solutions we decided our time was up.

Thanks for the nice comments. ;)

wow, I had been out of the scene for about a year, came back last month, ordered some CR4s from xconsoles, loved the super simple / fast install & was going to order more right now just to find all this...
Is there really no way to continue under the guise of service parts or something?
Very sad, very sad indeed...
I am sure it's an obvious solution, that shops have thought about, but being a repair shop owner I need to know if I need to not accept cards on mods or just describe them differently.

I am looking for another US seller & I dont care if I am buying CR4 Unbricking tools, CR4 Chip encoders, or CR4 Cookies!
I dont know what this new deal is with the CC companies is, but I would think the description on what it is used for would help?
I guess I better hit up modchipcentral before I cant get em anywhere...

Every mod I do, I put repair on the invoice. I got burned by PayPal on a website while expecting donations. All because the site had "Hacks" in the title and had guides on modding. Never sold a single thing. I've used caution since that.
