Hi,

I have just modded my Xbox v1.0 with lots of wonderful help from this forum. :)
I have the X3 chip and an evo-x dash. I managed to get some files to my pc via FTP, and make ISO files out of them. i have one particular ISO that does not fit on a DVD, even though it says the file size is 4.6GB. (I am under the impression that a DVD holds 4.7GB).

i have tried to delete all the files from my PC end and start again, used FTP to transfer the file again and Qwix to make the ISO, but i am still having no success.

Any help in this arena would be appreciated.

A blank DVD only holds just less than 4500mb I believe its 4489mb? not for sure but it isnt 4.7gb thats for sure. So you will need to remove some files to make it fit. look here for the files/game.

Thanks fjbm97,

I was not aware of the limitations of Halo 2 in particular.
S
o to use halo2 as an example then... is it possible to remove stuff etc to make that game work ?
Does this mean the original (for halo2) is on a DVD9 ?

yes it is a dvd9 and yes you can remove items to make it work. What game are you trying to back up??

Most of the games got a file called DASHUPDATE.XBE (about 50MB), you can delete this for backup purposes for example, and there is some files for example DEMO OF GAMES, VIDEOS ETC, that you can also delete to reach the size that you need for making the iso....

The Game i am actually trying to make a backup of is Halo 2.

I have made 3 attempts to burn this, including removing the dashupdate.xbe file which seemed to be unsuccessful, the disc works until you try to start a level.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

so you are saying that you removed DASHUPDATE from Halo2 and you were able to burn it on a DVD, and then when you try to start a level it does not work at all???... if this an affirmative answer, then the problem resides in the media or the way that you got your iso done....

Thanks for all your help, you are correct, that is exactly what i have done.

I use qwix to create iso's and this is the first backup i have had trouble with in throughout many other backups.

Is there a recognised problem with qwix and this particular backup?

I will attempt one more time to see if it works, otherwise i'm going to call it a day and play something else! :)

i really appreciate all this help, its good to learn about these things ;)
